Hi

I bought this oil filter http://cgi.ebay.ie/K-N-OIL-FILTER-M...39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14
went to fit it today only to find that the bike has a longer filter installed by the previous owner. Its the same diameter but about an inch longer the make is a Rotax 152

The filter I bought fits but the cap is too big

Why would he use the longer filter instead of the standard filter? Anyone use these longer filters?

Where can I get a longer filter or mabey a standard cap?

TIA

The longer filters to my knowledge was an upgrade recommended by Aprilia. I got my cap and filter as a set from my local Aprilia dealer, although i'm not sure whether they will stock standard size caps.

Go for the longer filter :thumbup

The Longer filter was introoduced because of a few engine probs on the race track.....normal filter and cap are fine for road use

I got the longer filter but it was harder to find from bike shops so went back to the normal short filter that Aprilia still stock never had any probs... :thumbup

If you don't have the short style cap though, do Aprilia still stock the short cap? :dunno I know they still stock the short filters as you say BB for sure, but our man raven here has the cap suited for the longer filter.

Yea I've only got the long cap. When I bought the bike the previous owner said he only ever did a few track days a year with the Mille, he had another bike for everyday use

I'll give Aprilia in Dublin a ring on Monday, see if they can sort me out

Thanks for the info guys:thumbup

On a side note... I'm ordering a set of Michelin pilot road 2's on Monday, thought I'd ask while I'm logged on.

Anyone have any bad experiences with them?

Michelin pilot road 2's

SUPERB.....on my second set.... 100% recomended mate :thumbup

I rang Aprilia Dublin yesterday and they have the long filter in stock, so I've ordered two

I also ordered the set of Michelin PR 2's yesterday, they came today and look like a really good tyre. I'm sure they wont be as sticky as the M1's but at this time of year I reckon its a good choice. I can't wait to fit them the M1's have been shagged for about 2 weeks now

Thanks for the help guys, can always count on this forum :thumbup
