I know there was a thread showing pics of the different size filters and housings, i have seen it once however on looking i cant seem to find it anywhere!!!! My oil warning light has just started flicking on and off once on hot starting, having only had it a couple of weeks and he bike shop i got it from changing the oil, i just want to have a look at that thread and see if it is the filter!

Dont get me wrong it literally comes on for two seconds before disappearing. Its an 07 gen 2.

Have you checked the oil level when its warm? and bike running? its very easy to over fill the bike with it been a dry sump

Yeah oils just at the max line when fully warmed up. Sits about an inch under it after its been sat for half an hour. Am i right in thinking that even if it was high the warning light for oil pressure wouldnt come on? Cheers for that rico does seem that mine has the domed filter cap on.

I slightly over filled my gen 1, and would get oil warning light every so often specially at idle

Thinking back ahm sure there was a minor issue wi the earlier Gen 2s with the short filter in that if you changed to the longer one, as on the 08 bikes onwards ( a common mod) it could cause the oil light to momentary come on . Something to do wi a wee internal oil jet or similar that is set for the short filter, ah cannae remember now, will have a dig. Wasnt a serious problem though. There was a very good thread on this on the old original TZ site but got lost when the whole thing crashed n burned a few years ago.

Nae sure the oil pressure sensor will make the oil light flash if over pressured ie overfilled wi oil ( ah could be wrong tho so happy to be put right) as ah understood they are basically a one way thing. ie as long as the pressure is above a certain minimum value it switches off the light. Nae convinced they have an upper level setting .

Check your oil pressure sensor any way as a matter of course. They can corrode internallly and weep oil out thru the electrical connector tab. Ye might nae notice it for a while as it will be a mist while your riding. Very cheap to replace if it is buggered.
