Oil Change, Which Oil do I use?

V

V_senna

My first Oil change since purchase, i know it says 15W50 in the Manual, but is that what I should stick to? or is Motul 10W40 fine?

Watchin this thread closely as I am due a service too and have severe clutch problems due to oil viscosity/drag.

Gonna do the jet at the same time.

I'm pretty sure 15w50 is a thicker oil and used for hotter countrys, and 10W40 should be fine for use in the UK road and track use, just want someone to confirm this as I'm just making this up really lol.

:pirateI used fully synth for top up and kissed neutral goodbye, spoke to mechanic at speedaway and recommended a semi . Did full oil change and have had no probs since.I did stick with the recommended grade though just not the type,
Hope This helps..:thumbup:biggrin

Silkolene Comp 4 for me --50k miles nae probs. Tho I change it every 3k
CK

MOTUL 5100 semi-synth blend 15-50W here...never had clutch slip and selects neutral no dramas

I will add that i'm in the tropics..so pretty much over 30 deg. C everyday...never had oil cooling or engine cooling problems with
MOTUL 5100.

i'm using silkolene 10-40 semi
is this a problem, should i be worried, i've just changed it last week, everything seems fine, no clutch slip etc
starting can be a bit laboured thopugh, would oil affect this??

No AG1, the oil you are using is slightly thinner less viscous at ambient than the 15/50 so there will be less drag for starting.
