im looking at doing an oil and filter change in the next couple of weeks on the Factory, just wandering, ive heard your supposed to ride the bike for 20mins or so b4 u check the oil and change it but i dont really want to be gettin her out with the roads soakin wet, covered in salt and full of holes! so was wanderin if runnng the bike stood still for a while will have the same effect? cheers in advance guys

If your bike was standing still for some time now, just drain it cold, let it drain over the night. If you start the engine oil will go allover the place again.

if i can't ride either of my bikes i let them to warm up well and i drain the oil out. afterwards i start them for 5-6 seconds with the oil plug out and i'm done. trust me, none of the bearings is going to take a beat.

I use silkolene 15w 50 as thats what my local aprilia uses for all their ape servicing. Its fully synthetic and have never experienced any clutch slip.
