Hi, looking at changing the oil and filter this wend or next. Take it its a straight forward process? I understand it is a internal filter is it. Whats the minimum amount of bodywork you have to remove.

Thanks Rad

tis that simple wot oil were you thinkin of using there is a fair bit of different opinion might be worth gettin a thread started?????????

take the side panel off and belly pan you will see the drainage bolt on the bottom of the oil tank, theres also one next to the oil filter cover as well on the right hand side its a allen key head which has a magnet on the end to pick up any nastys in you oil,......3.9 litres of oil thats for a 2001 rsv:thumbup

Sorry m8 see after i read that back it sounded a bit on the cheeky side , it wasny meant to be .........

i am running agip tec4t which is 15w50 and is recomended. but do not start another oil discussion please :)

i've got motul 15w 50 to put in mine this time round, i know its better to warm engine up for 20mins before dropping the oil but will i still be ok doing it with engine cold ? ie should i leave it to drain overnight? its just i have got all the bodywork off, tank off etc etc and ive still got work to do elsewhere on the bike, but i really wanna get oil and filter done and dusted so dont see the point in building it back up, just to start it and warm it then have to strip it all down again. Any recommendations for doing this procedure 'cold' ??
