Ohlins shock need servicing???

M

Moggi

I'm hoping it isn't the case as I just don't have the cash but the compression adjuster on my Ohlins/Aprilia shock is playing-up!

When I harden it, it maxes out but just before it does the small screw in the centre of the adjuster starts turning with it. Obviously when I soften it, the screw moves again but only for maybe a few "clicks". That's another thing, as I'm turning the adjuster I can feel SOME resistance like it's fitting into a slot, every half turn but there's no actual sound and I'm sure there was something audible previously. The adjuster doesn't max out at the softest setting, it just continues turning.

Just checked it again and now it's not maxing out on the hardest setting either! :confused

Moggi mate,

There is company on ebay who claim to service all shocks for £85?????

Not sure if thats still a bit much at this time of year, and never used them either so can't vouch for them????

yup a service me thinks, they do ned a bit of attention, as I found out too.
I think my garage peeps sent it to Kais for a full service and they sorted the remote Adj too. These race items dont last long in road conditions, thats why I never upgraded my front showas to ohlins.

How much did that cost ya then CK?

Cheers Andy, I've seen them on ebay before but forgot about them! I'm thinking it might cost more as I'm convinced they'll have to get some parts from Aprilia :dunno

Hey Big Cheese! Is that a standard Ohlins/Aprilia shock?

Let me know how he gets on and how much it is/was :thumbup

ah, yeah I rememebr now, it was K-Tech not Kais, full service on my Ap830 with remote was 125 quid.

All parts come from Harris who are the official Ohlins agent in the UK, I had an Ohlins rear shock serviced which wasn't in a good state, by Steve Jordan motorcycles, and it was £160.

I have to say that it felt fantastic afterwards though, night and day difference to the handling.

the only prob with ohlins ****, is after about 6-10k it will need another service
