Which model is the best upgrade? mines a 2001 mille, seen loads on fleabay but not sure which one to go for?

Mate, my battery has just died and I've ordered one of these - Click Me not bad value in my books.

The specs for Numax batteries are the same as the Westco but a fraction of the cost. 12 month guarantee on the part should see me through next winter too.

Its not the same as the Westco mate, the westco is a gel battery which has higher CCA, the numax is a wet acid battery i belive :dowhat

Hi.All these batteries are dying because of the sub zero temperatures lasting for over a fortnight. My battery fired the Mille(01)up a week ago. This week it fired and died.I reverted to the no choke, full throttle start up.The battery is one of Nigel's finest(RSVR racing's MG14BS,actually 13.5 AMP).The original YTX 12 battery is only a 10amp and useless for a 1000cc twin in cold conditions.Even 13.5 amp batteries kept on an Optimate or similar will fail in outdoor/garage conditions.Sub/zero cold kills batteries.Take the battery off, charge, and keep it in the house/heated garage.RTD trained indentured tech/mech .

:biggrin Mine is fine, bike is kept outside all the time with a bike cover over it and a opt 3 run from house to the bike. Its only used for fun and i dont use it while weather ****,but still starts when i call on her.Just change battery every 2 years even if ok .:biggrin

If bike doesnt start I would tend to get a boost charger and leave it on there for 30 minutes or so at high charge.

Agree with BB, the Numax battery is a standard lead / acid battery and is not AGM technology as for the Westco battery which has a much higher cold cranking amp (CCA) capacity of 200 as opposed to around 100 cca for the standard lead / acid battery. It also has a much lower self voltage discharge rate. The Westco battery details are shown here

Anyone needing to change their battery should seriously look as one of these as a upgraded replacement but check fitment for your model RSV or RSVR

I got the westco last year and its superb, starts my bike better than any other battery i have used including the Yuasa ones

Leave it in the garage while this frost/black ice is about.

Dont have a garage but its no longer a road bike, its being shipped to spain on the weekend, doing a few trackdays out there,

I ordered a YTX 14-BS at work, gel type battery, should do the job, just taking it as a spare.

Had old battery on charge over night, slot it in, and after 3 or 4 attempts it finally fired up, turn the idle up to get it up to temp and boy did it take forever, was snowing early on aswell, just glad it started, took battery out again, put it on trickle charge.

I've got 2 good batteries now :)

does the 12 month guarantee on the part cover the cost of a sprag rebuild as well???
