Number plates - get legal

The police are starting to take a big intrest in number plates especially around Alson area, if they see bikes parked up they will stop & make a point of checking.

Obviously nothing to do with auto-recognition, "safety cameras" etc.

Anyway, several bikers have been getting fined (up to £100 now) for non legal plates.

Not only don the letters need to be right size, spacing, width of border, "clean", but the police are checking for :-

Presence of BS number on plate
Post code of place that made it
Name of company that made it.
Angle its mounted on back of bike.

Additionally, is a reflector present ?

Yeah,...give it another month and Cambs/Lincs Police will be doing the same around here.A small plate is like a cop magnet.
FWIW,...I have a legal number plate and a reflector fitted,...its just not worth the hassle.

My plate is too small , no BS and no post code its 7x5 with "the roar of thunder " on the bottom in Italian. When ive been pulled they have never mentioned it, but its always make me think they will one day?

Have to laff.... just checked me fleet and the only "legal" one is my 1998 rmx..... which is exempt from the 2001 revised regs anyway ...

:)

If we all toed the line the world would be a boring a place :yes

Aye, we would be in cars and not on bikes at all.

Surprised at Durham police taking this stance mind. They have always been really fair with bikers in the past.

I think it has a lot to do with auto regognition cameras.

If they cant auto read your plate when you ride past a camera, they cant check if its taxed, tested or insured or issue fines for speeding & other offences.

Thats why they are clamping down on people shuffling letters about to make names as well.

Certainly makes the world a safer place.

considering theres only around 25% of Durham covered by actual ANPRC whats the point :dunno
also if that's the case why go to Alston in January to check bike number plates, wait until June and catch a lot more :dunno
OT are you working undercover or just :thatsgay
