Hi all,

My OCD has forced me to post this: how the hell do I get my front wheel proper clean?
It's a gold Oz one and I can't seem to shift the embedded brake dust that's got in it over the years (not me, I've only had it 2 weeks!!).

If anyone knows of a good cleaning product that can sort this I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks.

I use wd40 on a cloth then spray it with break cleaner. Using the cloth stops it going over the tyre.
Works well to loosen any spots of grease thrown off the chain onto the back wheel so assume it will work as well on the front.
Might be worth a try on brake dust on the front. The wd40 may loosen it and the brake cleaner solvent will lift off the wd40.

Use a good wheel cleaner such as Valet Pro Bilberry. I use the stuff on my car and bike and it brings up my blue o.z.'s lovely :)

I'll nip down to Halfords later and see what they've got. I just thought I'd ask if there was a miracle product out there that people are using!

Everyday baby wet wipes are the way to go. I use them for cleaning my bike every time. They even remove stuck on chain lube, brake dust, grease etc etc no bother. When done just remove the wet wipe streaks with furniture polish. Job done dry and easy :)

i use the stuff they have in pressure sprayers at hand car washes. TFR or Traffic film remover,. awesome product, takes EVERYTHING off including existing wax. careful not to leave on in the sun, I did for 30mins on the lexus 'for it to work harder' only to have it etch into the window glass and the marks have never come out..

spray on, leave 20secs, work with a glossing brush into any stubborn bits.. rinse off asap and alll gone.

TFR is good but as you say, use with caution! Went to look at a ZX6R once that had been cleaned with TFR, almost every bit of black anodising had white streaks and stains on, bike was ruined IMO.
Buy a litre of bilberry of e-bay for around a tenner, you can dilute it up to 10:1 so potentially get 10 litres from a bottle :) I normally use at 4:1 and I haven't been defeated yet! Don't use wonder wheels though, stuff is like battery acid!
Once you have your wheels clean apply something like jetseal or a good wax and you'll never have to brush them again ;-) just apply cleaner, leave for 5 minutes then rinse. I got into car detailing a little last year and discovered that results were dependant on using the right products rather than loads of effort! Lol

speak to Nooj at shinybikesyndrome, whatever he uses brought up my calipers lovely. They hadn't lokoed that clean in nearly 3 years of my cleaning!!

TFR with added wax great on body work ,wheels, I have the original TFR which is caustic, you know when that gets in your eyes, dont think its sold anymore ,kills the little fishes:cry
