hi all,

after a year of not having a bke ive decided to buy another an decided on a 2000 reg rsv mille.

love the bike already but having a few issues? my speedo isnt working. my red max red light comes on at 6000rpm?

im 27 today, live near wiagn in the uk. the mille is my 14th bike
ive had alsorts from st1100s to zx10rs. looking forward to getting stuck into the rsv forums

Welcome gregstar

I've not experienced it but failure of the speedo sensor (on the back wheel) seems to be pretty common. Have a search on this forum.

Download yourself the RSV Mille 2000 use and maintenance guide off the Aprilia site.

http://www.serviceaprilia.com/public/lum/index.asp?l=RSV Mille

In the meantime to adjust the redline threshold (with engine off but ignition on (!))
Press C button, release, and press again
Release C button when desired RPM is reached

Rob :)

Gregg, you may wish to consider joining the Tuono world forum. Nob the main Guru who spends most of the day playing with the site is not far from you & has a wealth of knowledge on Aprilias. The RSVR is basically the same as a Tuono except the fairing & most parts & technical issues are common to both. There are also a number of other guys close to you who are also equally knowledgeable including Charley Tuono who is a technician at the rocket centre in Blackburn so also knowledgeable & local to you.

thats great knowing two gurus are very close. my brother lives up the road from the rocket centre so ill pay a visit over the weekend. one more quick question. is the rev light just a light or does it actually limit my rev range to?

The red light does not limit the revs. It's just a visual indicator. The real rev limit is hard wired (you cannot change it).

Rob :)

yep follow the link for the light it only blinks and i just changed my sensor that went and i'm not far from you (warrington)

The limiter resets its seems if you have a near not start. Mine did, and put the speedo back to KM aswell. But as said, easy to put back ;)

Yeah the shift light(sounds better than limiter light)always resets to 6000 rpm if the battery dies or is disconnected and as im sure youll find oot this winter get her on a trickle charger they are a ****** mare to start otherwise and you dont want to strip the sprag clutch trying to start her.....

Yup. When I first got my bike I noticed if I was a bit of a girl with the starter button ,resulting in a 'near not start', the clock, RPM indicator light and MPH resets.

Add to that, the idea that if it dont it could mangle the sprag, and I do a little jig whenever it starts! lol
