Hi guys just some advice please , have a 2003 aprilia rsv1000 , out for a ride today after about 50 miles the bike just stopped , no miss firing or any thing.
Tried cranking her over nothing at all not even trying to fire , while I waited for breakdown recovery , I checked her over , the fuel pump is priming , plenty of fuel , but no spark on any of the spark plugs , also they seemed a bit dry considering I'd cranked the engine over for a while ?.
The side stand has the bypass mod , when the recovery guy came i checked the coils over with his meter ( I dont know anything about bikes I'm a car man he said ? lol ) seems they had voltage to all four , but were'nt switching off for a spark to be produced ?

Any ideas or clue's , going to have a look at her later

thanks Eddie

tilt sensor under the seat? little black box that rattles with a ball bearing in it.. see if its loose.

Well checked everything out , and it turned out to be the ignition trigger pick up on the alternator side ( bit like a crankshaft sensor ) cleaned up the contact which was very dirty with fine sandpaper , checked the wiring and away she went , anybody know if this is a common fault ?

Eddie

its the grey relay under the passenger seat it does the safety
circuits if its faulty it will stop bike from running

I think it's official name on the wiring diagram is 'engine stop relay' which is why I wasn't sure what you were referring to when you said 'starter diode'.

If it happens again, check the horn fuse. Mine blew at the MOT test centre and it cuts out the bike! Don't you love italian electrics.
