The RVF back in the day, rode this bike everyday, never let me down. Still one of the best front ends on any bike i`v ever ridden. It is currently in a coma at the back of my mums garage awaiting to rise again like a dusty phoenix!

Actually love this bike

No pics of the RS`s, as digital cameras on phones werent invented yet!!

Hope you`v enjoyed the show!

Thanks mate. Dont wait around, seriously, you will wonder why you never did it before! you do and learn more in a day than a year on the road, what is possible will bend your mind! Great way to get awesome pics of your bike if nothing else. Do one this winter, spanish trips are the best value. That cartagena trackday cost me 500quid plus fuel and food for 3/4days on track! Not sessions, open pit! Included accomadation, flights for you, tranports for your bike, riding gear, spare tires and tools! Oh and that was in mid december!!
One word of warning though. Dont expect to enjoy road riding in the same way again...

curious.. when you go to track days can you have friends bring cameras along to take the pics? or is it strictly professionals who SELL you pictures they took throughout the day?

wanna know cus i would luv the chance to take pics of bikes on track but i aint paying fees to the track for the privilege lol

Depends on the track mate, and the organisers.
Usually there`s no rule about your mates taking pics or even mounting your own cam to bike (in some cases).
But tracks have large run off, so unless your on it, its hard to get close enough for good pictures, add to that the speed of what your trying to capture, and you need some proper kit!
Or you get...

its about 20-30quid for a CD of your day usually. Thats why I took the R1 round before I part-ex`d it, so I had some quality pics to remember it

hehe yeah obviously its not something for camera phones to handle ;)

i have a Nikon D5000 with a nice 70-300 telephoto lens so my gear is pretty good (although admittedly not as good as the stuff that costs thousands n thousands..)

i guess i need to ring up some people and ask, not gonna be doing it for profit so i definately couldnt afford the fees the pros have to pay

Yeh but they get to have proper track access, plus a pit garage for their laptops to sort pics and burn discs etc. Just turn up at a trackday and wonder round. You might even earn a penny or two out of it.

To be fair though, you could probably just get some pretty awesome shots at you local roundabout or twisty road with a good cam and some patience.
These were with camera phones in france (my tires were FOOOKED) but you see what I mean. With you cam could have been epic.

yeah the only person i know in norfolk who rides motorbike is my brother.. and he rides a suzuki 125 :) wanted to try the roundabout thing before but its hard when you got no local biker friends

only about a half hour ride to snetterton though ;)

Shame you aint down this way dude. You could come out with me and a few of the guys and take pics of us being silly! lol
But if your half hour from snetterton your a long way from me. Its like a three hour drive for me!

I was alone when I started riding, had to teach myself from scratch, no-one to ask anything and no internet!!
Just me and my RS.

yeah i actually have a pretty similar story.. my dad seems to hate bikes (i think he has some bad memories of the past lol) and i didnt know really anyone who could help me out
but then i am pleased with how i learnt to ride, in middle of winter lol, i approached it with great caution and respect and thats made me a safe rider imho

the roads in norfolk are pretty appalling for the most part, sure there are some really nice areas but finding somewhere you can enjoy yourself in a safe manner without causing trouble for others is pretty hard
some of the backroads round here are practically dirt tracks accross fields lol

Yeah same again. My Dad actually lives in Malta (i`m half Maltese) but used to visit every year. When I was saving for my first, he said he would buy me a car instead if I didnt get a bike. I rode everyday for 4years before I did a car license. Got my first Bike in mid winter too. Brand new and the day it was delivered it was black Ice right up my road. Still went out on it (didnt know any better! lol). And thats how I learnt to ride. Think it helped because I got used to feeling for grip, so when summer came, I was invincible!! (almost..) lol. Taught myself to ride and kneedown while I was on L`s
The Roads down here used to be alot better, and sundays it was literally like an empty racetrack. Its **** nowadays. You could be caught dragging your knee by a copper and they`l give you a slap on the wrist and send you on your way. Now your charged for dangerous driving! Petrol was like 70p a litre and the RS ran forever on a fiver, summers were sunny etc etc.....You missed out mate. Feel sorry for anyone starting out riding sportbikes today....

ditto on both points lol, my first ride lasted about 60 seconds.. but hey it was like -3c out and looking like rain/snow lol so i put my shiny new bike away for the day

in my rs50 mad days petrol was about 80p so aint that far off, and 5 quid would last all week, i used to ride about 16 hours a day every day.. LOL (im serious i actually pulled an all nighter riding once...)

Yeh I used to do all nighters, when i first started riding by myself. I remember getting in a 3am, putting the bike away, going in, getting undressed, gettin into bed, lying there grinning, then...f**k it, got up got dressed and went back out!

Then when there was a few guys who had peds and old dirtbikes or whatever and who ever stayed out longest were the ones with warmest gloves! lol. Those were the days...

wow. Nice stories guys. My dad used to have the odd bike, but he was never involved in my biking history. I started because I needed to get from Warlingham to Paddington faster than in the car (2 hours!!). I got a Peugot Speedfight and did it in 45 minutes most days. I have a few track pics, but only ever took two of my bikes on track. My old Fazer and my ninja. Need to get the Mille on, but need a can hanger first as I don't want the scrutineers to send me home with a wobbly exhaust!!!

Well dont be shy pieman. Post them pics!!
Glad you like the pics and stories!
