02 RSV... am i being thick... or arent they fitted to the mille !? :confused

had a quick look under the pillion seat... but i cant see any... looking for 1 or 2 little hooks for the D rings... mind you... it took me 15mins to find the prop for the tank... lol !! :biggrin

PITA ain't it ?

Don't think the Italians thought about that, got used to that feature on the SV and miss it on the Mille

yep... PITA !! :biggrin

i made 2 up for my slabby... think il knock 2 up for the mille... just need 2 metal brackets wide/long enough to take the D ring... il bolt them under the 2 front bolts on each side that hold on the rear fairing on... should be enough slack !! :thumbup

just knocked one up out of ali... easy to be into shape... managed to find a design to work due to the broadness of the seat... just need to make up a more substancial 2... one for each side !! :doug

my FM helmet has quite a short strap compared to a AGV... but you would have to double check if your helmet strap is long enough !? :dowhat

also the missus helmet... also a FM... though different model... has a narrower D buckle than most... so again a little modding maybe required regarding the width of the bracket !! :eatcorn

yay... i guess the seat use to come with a strap... as theres a little space built into the seat padding for the strap to sit under !! :doug

bracket measurements are... ...

Overall Width 15mm

Top Length where D duckle slips on is 12mm

Bottom Length which bolts onto subframe is 25mm

Height of bracket is 20mm

Hi mate.

I fixed two of these under the seat of my old bike:

http://www.bikeit.co.uk/luggage_product.asp?ID=41

Then used a small padlock thorough the 'D' ring and the bracket, that way even if someone takes the seat off it is aggro to get the lid off.

Hope that helps.

Steve

I just take the helmet bag and carry it with me, or if i'm at a Squires (local meet) just hang it on the handlebar or leave on the wall :biggrin

Not being funny, but that hook don't look that strong. If you give the helmet a good pull, would the hook not just give and then the tea leaf is walking down the road with your lid?

ill stick with my cable lock :)

I used to own one of those...1600E :inlovein Aubergine :thumbup took it all round france/spain and into Gibraltar where i worked for a while :devious

MY EX NEIGHBOUR HAD THE MK2 LOTUS VERSION WHITE WITH GREEN STRIPE SOUNDED GREAT :thumbup

THEN SOME **** FOR BRAINS SMACK ED DECIDED TO ROB THE STEREO OUT OF IT AND RAG ALL THE DASH IN THE PROCESS ,HE NEVER DID FIND ANY REPLACEMENT BITS TO FIX IT . FOOKIN SCUM :jack

There'll always be some wankers out there to spoil someones pride and joy :jack

I'll try and dig out a picture of mine and scan it later on :thumbup

thats why i mentioned that i need to 'make 2 more substancial ones'... ie thicker ali... i just used the thin ali as its easy to bend into shape by hand as a template... but the theives wont know what it is made of under the seat... plus its FREE... or just a few quid if you need to pop to B&Q !! :thumbup

amount of times friends have stuck there helmets on their seats/tanks @ meets... & they have been bumped/fallen off !!

plus when going to the Shakedown or Mayday run etc... its just nice to be able to lock the helmets to the bikes in a helmet bag & just walk around... my mates keep moaning their helmets keep getting knocked/scratched when walking through crowded streets !? :biggrin

each to their own though... if someone wants to nick a very used skid lid... then im sure they'll take it one way or another... but its just handy to have them when your use to bikes with them... my 3 last bikes had Givi 46L topboxes... so no competition there... but id dare not put a topbox on me Mille... you lot would probably kick me out of the forum... lol !! :devious

I want that mk 2 cortina !!!!

hes just got rid of another one... a dark green one... not a lotus though !!

he's proper oldskool... still got his quiff @ 60... got a BSA & AJS in the shed... plus enough parts to build another 3 mk2 cortinas !! :thumbup

hes got lines... brakes... struts... coolers... bonnet brackets... basically his 20ft by 20ft shed is full of cortina/bike bits... atic is full... & not too mention his numerous wardrobes in the house... he has an amazingly understanding wife... lol !! :biggrin
