NewVolt Ignition box - any good????

Hi,

I just purchased a low mileage 2000 RSV Mille - base model. The bike has had the intake and exhaust plugs removed, the ECU wire snipped and a titanium Arrow slip on

I am now looking to boost the performance a bit and have talked with Ken Zeller of Evoluzione. Ken has recommended the following:

Newvolt ignition box w/harness:
high performance plugs & wires
evoluzione complete race airbox kit with filter.
boring throttle bodies & velocity stacks to 54mm
54mm eprom

I will go with everything recommended except I am not sure about the NewVolt ingnition box. Ken has said I should do it given the twin plug config.

With all respect to Ken, can anyone please tell me what this unit (not cheap) will do for me and if it is advisable?

Thanks

Mate, the fact that nobody has answered probably means that they don't know. I've never heard of this mod and, although some people swear by Iridium plugs, otherwise RSVs don't seem to be known for suffering from weak sparks. Before you go the Evo airbox route, have a look at the ones Hooked is selling on here
Sorry can't be of more help.

I've heard of these New Volt Ignition Modules before, didn't realise they were used on bikes though.

Race car technology, give a crisper faster spark that can be controlled by a few simple buttons on the unit.

You can set RPM limts, alter the spark timing and the actual voltage.

Not really something I would have expected to see someone adding to a V Twin Aprilia. Usually used on 350BHP plus in line four car engines or seriously modded engines - such as NOS, supercharging or Turbo's.

How much extra performance will that lot give you :dunno and is it worth the money it will cost :dunno and will you use it all :dunno

On a slightly modded RSV It's a waste of time IMO.

Better spending your money elsewhere.

Use the money towards some OZ wheels or custom mapping of your EPROM or PC3.
