the rsv is a 2000 model with 2,200kms on the clock what are the pros and the cons of this bike as im all new to it . following are the pics of my car and this bike ,can someone confirm if i should do the swop and if it would be worth it. i know my car is worth more than the bike (can someone confirm how much they were new in 2000 ? ) but as im like a small kid i just want it

this is the bike

For starters, it looks more that 2200 KMs old. New anodised rear sprocket at 2,200 kms - I dont think so. And how far have thos forks been pulled through the top yolk!!!!

Only you know what you prefer - the bike or the car! Depends how it fits in to your personal circumstances. Id have the RSV over the Kwak any day but, personally........I wouldnt have that car.

to be far mate, I would try and sell the motor and then you can buy a nice rsv-r.
thats mileage seems a little low too. I reackon either hes listed it wrong or its been clocked!

The bike does look nice and would again hvw the mille over the zx and I did. came from a zx9 to my first 99 mille.

I would let the car go for cash mate or sawp for a newer mille but thats me :)

Hi Nexia, welcome.

Where are you from, the plate on the car looks like italy?! I think your car is worth more than the bike (it is possible for a bike of that age to have 2200kms but that would probably be an ex-race bike, especially looking at how far the forks are through the yokes or like Garvey says clocked).

If you want the better Generation 1 Mille then go for 2001 and on (if you can afford get the RSV-R as they have Ohlins suspension and all the nice bits).

Sell your car and buy a bike - it will work out better for you I think, but its hard to say without knowing where you are from.

Deacs :thumbup

The thing is that lately we have been invaded with imported 2nd hand cars (7,000 in the last 3 months thats appart from the new ones from the main dealers ) so there is a very slim chance of selling the car at a reasonable price

2nd there are not many rsv.s around probably could count them on 1 hand and never seen an rsvr on the island so this might be the only real chance of getting one as here they are jap crazy (but im sure i can outhandle the japanese rockets on our bends thats why i want it ) cos one that ownes a zx6r told me that this is as fast as a 600 japanese sport bike :angry but i cant see that !

hmm, i bet that bike's done more than 2200kms. as witht the rest of the guys, there are some things that just don't look right about that bike, but hey it's only a photo.

Keep the car and save your cash and shop around

thanks for the welcome im from Malta the small ******

island

I dont know about the clocks as here there are so many people that get a bike and dont use it (i have a 1990 rgv with 10,000miles on the clock ) as for the forks here they put the forks up for better response from the handlebars as we have crappy roads.

this is my other bike the RGV250L its from 1990

and that could keep with almost anything (well its thesame engine aprilia use in the rs250 )

tell me what doesnt look right (cos you know more than me ? )
he wants 5000 euro for it and i was just going to do a straight swop but my car is worth more like 8,000euro sooooooooo:dunno

yep know Malta, my ex-wife is half Maltese. I would say 2200kms is about right considering where you are (and people are always putting extra bits on their bikes so a different sproket is quite possible). I don't know what the market is like in Malta but if you reckon the car is valued about the same and its right for you then go for it :thumbup is it expensive to import from the mainland then?

edited.....

Ok you just posted so if the car is worth 8k and the bike 5k then its a no brainer sell your car and buy the bike. Even if you drop it to like 6500 you're still better off. RGV looks fantastic :thumbup

thanks mate i will try to do that sounds like a good idea good advise :thumbup

she must be nice if she is half Maltese then :biggrin

It's all about the condition of the bike not just the mileage. How has it been stored for example. From the photo it just looks a little tired but maybe that's just the photo. Is the mileage genuine can it be proved? I'd expect the bike to be in virtually as new condition with that low mileage irrespective of age

So 1300 miles ( 2200 kms ) in 9 years. That's about 150 miles a year. Just how small is Malta?

Your RG looks like a nice bike nexia

Where Im from you will get around 3keur for that model in tip top shape, you can also get a R modell for 2.6k, so not worth it.

You can simply check the milage by feeling the front discs, in 2k km they should have no edge that you can feel with your fingers.

If you are into mille (its a great bike by the way) I would look at 01+ models, since it has some small improvements over the older model (98-00) that are nice to have, better foot pegs, nicer tank, 2hp more, better brakes and so on. Although for me, the 2000 model looks the nicest.

Also there are two versions, normall mille, and a mille R. The R version has a bit better suspension and some carbon bits, but its takes just a bit more to maintain it.

For only street riding I would go for the normal version, but if you plan to do trackdays, having what the R version has is nice :)

unfotunately we dont have any tracks in Malta but wouldnt mind popping up to sicily to go to a track there ,but it would be probably once so this bike for the road should do
