Hey everyone,

I am learning a lot about the Tuono from this site and another and I am looking to purchase one. So thanks a lot and I am sorry if some of these have been answered before and I know I asked some advice before. Here you can see what I am debating between.

I found a leftover 07 Tuono Factory for $11,000 with zero miles on it.

I also found a pearl white with red 07 Ducati S4RS with 1800miles on it that has the full Termi exhaust, airbox, chip, open clutch kit for 10,500. Owned by a 67 year old guy who has 2 of them and he is getting rid of one.

I am having a really hard time choosing between the 2.

The Duc has all the add ons that I would do to it and those cost approx $3000. So as it sits those mods I think give the Ducati a 18HP increase and sound advantage. However the Aprilia still has a 2 year warranty and it is new. The Aprilia with map 2 and slip ons makes what for HP compared to the ducati?

In the shoot outs the Aprilla seems to win against the Ducati. I have also talked to quite a few people and they say there is nothing like riding the Ducati, and some like that unrefined motor feel and some don't. The Aprilia has a larger gas tank so I should be able to go longer between fuel stops.

Either way I think I would be happy but I am just having a hard time pulling the trigger on one or the other.

Any help, advice, etc. on this would be greatly appreciated!

Keith

I toyed between 3 different bike before i got my Tuono. I think both bikes will be a joy to ride so I'd say forget the BHP, mods, large tanks etc and just go for the one you know you really want and you won't regret it.... if you do regret it just buy the other bike next year!

I really want both but I can't afford both. That is why it is such a hard decision. I am leaning more twords the Tuono right now but I was always a fan of the Ducati Monster.

We currently have a BMW R1100S and a BMW F800S. This bike is to fill that extra that my R1100S can't fulfill. If you have to many bikes then some just collect dust and don't get used like they should.

Ducati is the Ferrari of motorcycles.
Aprilia is the Lamborghini of bikes. :cheers

And, why does the spell checker recognizes the car names, but not the bike names? :2fingerlol

I was faced with the same choice a couple of years ago. I sat on both and the Tuono felt right. I also felt the T looked better. When I saw my particular one I fell in love with it. 2 years on and I still say it was the best bike decision I've ever made.
Like Tequilaprinc says, forget the BHP issue. If you can ride any of them to the max it might be relevant but, be honest, how many of us can? Anyway, a quick and cheap change of sprockets and you'll have your work cut out keeping the front wheel down.

Buy the one that fits you the best. Both being great motorcycles the tuono is bit bigger. After riding the tuono my 06 S2R 1000 feels like a mini bike. I'm six feet tall and I let a buddy ride the S2R and he is my size he made that bike look mighty small. I love that S2R but have only rode it once since the purchase of the Aprilia. Oh, no belts or closing shims to change.

Good luck, Rob L.

When purchasing my tuono, both the sales guy and the mechanic said that Aprilia was more reliable. They could have been blowing smoke at me, but I do trust what they told me.
I found that the tuono was a more refined ride and I like the wet clutch. Dry clutches have a "clank" sound to them which I didn't care for. That just my opinion, but thought I would say nonetheless.
Just buy what feels comfortable to you. Sit on both, and ride them if possible.
