Finally got my new bike after selling my Busa.

Just bought an Aprilia RSV Mille 1999. Part service history, 14k on the clock. MRS exhaust. It really is in good condition only a few blemishes hear and there.

It has Pirelli Dragon Evo MT21/22 tyres.
As for on bends it changes direction really well and the suspension feels like its on rails. As for the tyres they felt really hard with no feel or grip at first but after pushing it a bit they warmed up well ( even today ) and seamed to be ok, think I need to get used to them as I am used to Metzler Rennsport.

Anyone else used the Dragon Evo’s? What did you think of them?

Also wondering what mods can I do, free-be mods.

Im gessin there is probably an airbox mod? Any links with pics?
Air filter, will check to see if it has had a BMC / K&N.
Sure someone said about a cable to be cut to the ecu.
Do you chip these or can the ecu be remaped by my local tuner by a yoshi box?
Anything else?

Well hear she is....

Hello mate, i think these models can be chipped with an eprom chip (keep an eye out at some auction sites) i have had dragon evo's in the past, they are really good tyres but i PERSONALLY (but that is just MY preference and i only ride in hot weather) like bridgestones 014, like you i am a newbie, nice looking bike and welcome to the world of the twin, happy riding.

Welcome to the zone.....take some time to follow through on old threads, you'll find everything you need to make a great bike excellent!

Pic 1 - dodgy colour cast makes the bike look wrong (sorry)
Pic 2 - Oh yes, oh yes - what a beaut - ain't no better colour scheme for a bike than red, black silver/grey. Nice Mille geezer - hope it lives up to expectation.:thumbup

Yeh the first pic is on a dull day with a camera phone but the second pic is how she realy looks.

Had a good look through many posts on here and not found much on the air box mod as in pic's or full write up but I am just gessin it is like my old Busa where it is just the flapper system to remove and block the vacume pipe but with the Busa you were able to enlarge the hole aswell.

The other thing I read was the cable to be cut to use both map's of the ecu so will have a look to see about doing this. Probably go down the route of getting the ecu remaped by my local tune'er.

One thing I have not found out about the RSV is if it has a pair valve system but I gess I will have to strip and findout myself.

Anyway thanks for the comments.

Just thought I would add to this. I have done the Badgers Box mod, took me about 3 hours in total.

I started it up and let it warm. When warmed up I took it up the street and back with no helmet, Jesus I never realised how loud the MRS exhaust is with no lid, much louder than my mates old RSVR with an Arkapovic, there is a slight increase in noise but hardly anything from the induction.

First impression just going down the street is that it got more midrange, just barks into life instantly, it is noticable.

My only concern in the airfilter, I hope it stays inplace, I used 3 layers of foam ontop of the filter and a smear of window sealant on the bottom of the filter to the airbox.

come on man where's the photo's :roll

:thumbup

Was realy hoping to get some but I wanted to get this done asap and wanted to have a coffee before the sun went down so just concentrated on getting it done.

Looks no different to yours or badgers. The only different thing I done was on the tank at the rear where the square notch is in the tank is cut another piece of foam and aroldite it to this to flush the tank a bit more to aid the seal.

I would doubt it is not 100% sealed but it sure aint bad. Sure was tight placing the tank back down.

Not sure what more I can do to the bike to make it a bit quicker. Doubt I will go down the route of down gearing as I do like a bit of topend, where I live we got some realy nice twisties but some amasing straights.

Anyway a BIG 100% thankyou to Badger & Sprocker.

Another update, I bought an almost new 15t front sprocket of the bay for £12.50.

Just fitted the sprocket and noticed that on there originaly was a 16t. I then counted the rear one and that is a 42t.

Had a little play down the street and she now pulls up in first easyer on power and holds it in second better, but it was just a little go and will see now in the next week when I get chance to take her out, if though I am not happy I may put a 44t on the rear.

If I am happy then I will take a couple of links out of the chain to pull the wheel back in a bit.
