Hi guys,

I'm due to pick up my first Mille on Saturday (the 07th Sep) and whilst i'm excited at the prospect of trying something different after a long line of Jap in-line fours, i'm worried that the old girl will be a bit too down on power.

The one i'm getting is a 2003 Mille R and it has a half decent looking can but i'll assume that it's otherwise standard for now. I believe these only put about 115 bhp out at the wheel?.

Looking around on here etc, I can see that there appears to be an air box mod of some sort and a chip of some sort too (in addition to the can) but can someone give me an idea of what they look like (so I can check if mine has any of this done when I have a poke around) but mainly, if where I can get this stuff from?.

How much power can we realistically expect to get with these 'typical' mods..?

Thanks in advance

Steve.

Leave a PM for Tash.
He sells all the kit you need.

About £200 for the airbox mod and £50 for a chip.
Expect another 8-10 bhp.
With these bikes it is not about outright power....it's more about traction and drive....when you have it set up correctly you'll be feeling it hook up with the tarmac through the seat of yer pants....they pull like a train coming out of corners.

Or make your own airbox mod for ate near, chip and a modded collector.

Then change the gearing for 16-44

They take a while to get used to how they ride etc

1000's or 600 il 4's I don't know about the other guys but I had a go on a R6 the other day felt as flat as a fart, these bikes have serious grunt, you won't be disappointed, they just lack the high rev whine, but you won't miss it.

Thanks for the assurance guys. I'm looking forward to the challenge!. Paul Ali, yeah you're right, 600's are shocking!. Flat as a witches ***!. I've always had litre sports bikes or Busa's and ZX12R's. Jump on a 600 and WOW they are gutless!. Not for me.

As for this Mille. Well, it's well down on power and actually down on torque too on most of my previous stuff BUT - there must be something in all the fuss so we'll see.

I'll have a good look over it to see what, if anything has been done to it already. I suspect the gearing MUST have been altered as it's 10 years old and it seems like the first thing folks do.

Thanks again guys.

Best regards

Steve
