Hi, first off let me introduce myself, my name is Mark, I am 39 years old and live on the Wirral. I am married with one young daughter and I have been riding bikes for over 20 years and perhaps ashamedly must admit to now having had in excess of 30 different bikes.

I have had more than my fair share of japanese bikes but I have as we shall say have seen the light more recently, now had two ducatis followed by the 04 rsvr.

I posted an question over the weekend asking about a strange noise that was prominent at low speed and as the revs were knocked off. Having now spoken to a local gent that racers aprilias I believe the noise is an air flap opening and closing that simply works to reduce emissions at lower revs.

To those that took time to answer the original then 'thank you very much'.

If anyone knows of any decent meets or ride-outs on or around the Wirral then please do let me know.

As I suppose is traditional on many forums by way of an introduction then the round is on me..............:thumbup

Hello and welcome....

Regarding the noise, I know exactly the component your source is referring to but would really doubt it would make any noise at all, its only a thin plastic flap. My bike has certainly never made a noise from there.....

As its still a bit early and a work night, a nice Cabernet Shiraz will do - Cheers...

Mark Welcome, if the noise gets annoying, just remove the vacuum hose from the diaphram behind the headlamps and block the hose with a wooden dowel or similar to seal. The flap is only there as you say for noise and emission reasons.

Hi Mark dont know much about noises but i know they are a friendly bunch around here welcome mate :)

cheers Dan
