Hi all, I was searching for some advise on my bike and came across the site and joined up so " Hello from Ireland", anyway my problem is if i shift down the gears too quick " my first Vtwin" so im not use to the engine brake yet but it cuts out and wont resart until i switch off the ignition and try again, I've ben told that they have a censor on the brakes and that they can go a bit funny under hard braking, so if anyone else has experienced this and has fixed it advise would be much appreciated also being from Ireland we get alot of rain and also heard mille's don't like water too much so if there's any advise on how to waterproof it other than not ride in the wet because that would be about 15 days a year i would be really greatful.:thumbup

welcome from scotland mate enjoy your new bike bud ,as for the rain ive driven through crazy heavy rain even been overtaken by a fish ,but bike went great with no problems . sorry i aint got a clue about your main problem lol

Left my gen 2 oot in the rain and the dash ****** up they don't get as much of the council juice in italy ,cutting out could be caused by a few things but ive never heard of the a front brake sensor thingy ,give your battery terminals a check and tighten them bad boys up also heard of the tip over sensor being a cause on the gen2 its behind the battery on the earlier ones not sure, then youve got the dodgy white connector under the seat i think every gen had that problem i did must of been a right **** that wired that one up ,try them ones oot and if you get no joy post up again somebody will know, good luck....

The only sensor near the brakes I can think of is the speedo pickup on the rear??
anyway mabey you are shifting down too soon, let the rpm drop a bit more then shift down see if it still cuts out.
the best water proofing is a little grease smeared around the various connectors.
btw welcome to the zone...

Thanks lads, I was washing the bike last week and I noticed under the seat two white wires disconnected so I reconnected them and turned on the ignition and it said diag and didn't change I pulled them apart and it was fine again is this the white wire that bryanthegoat mentioned and what is it for?

dont think so bud ,they are for when the dealers to use to look for problems mate dont ever start the bike with them connected tells you that in the manual mate i think..
