hi just got my first rsvr factory 2004 plate new shape!
not rode it yet as ive spent the last 2 months doing it up to my tastes.
can any one help?????????????
i had a knocking noise when i press my brake while pushing the bike, so i stripped the steering bearings, and re greased as they are ok and nipped them up tight! definatley no play in the bearings but under more inspection i have discoverd there is still a little knocking that seem to be coming from the fork internals, i have preloaded the ohlins up and down and it is still there.
could there be no oil? fork seals are ok but if no oil they would be?
its not brakes as they have all been stripped and replaced with new pads and greased etc.., same for wheel brgs and spindle.
definatley is inside the forks.
i had a gixer thou k1 before that had a knocking on front brake while pushing but that was down to the pad pins worn.
obvousley rsvr factory does not have pins going through the pads as the brembo brakes
thanks if any one can help??

The disks are floating so there will be play as the bobbins move of a few mm which is normal.

If not that Fork bushes or play at the preload cap on the fork top.
Rock the bike with the front brake on and look at the top caps and then again with your hand where the fork leg meets the stanchion.

My guess would just be the disk free play though.

Cliff, I've been down this route before.

Mine still click very slightly and it sounds like it's internal to the forks.

Had all the front end apart and found nothing, put it down to a quirk of the bike.

Don't you just love these bikes?? LOL

booking in for mot tomorrow, now all sorted its only while pushing the bike a foot then lightly presing the brake! so not going to worry over that. all brakes need bedding in so maybe may go totally?
