Hey guys, I'm glad to have finally picked up an Aprilia RSV for myself! I've been fond of them for as long as I can remember but of course they were always much $ more than other bikes. I had a Yamaha FZR1000 since high school and I picked up a TLR1000 and racked up some miles on that for a couple years. Once I got used to cruising the v-twin there was no going back for me. The TLR motor is very good, they look sweet (some people think, at least they are something different) but the suspension was horrendous =o. Instead of dumping a couple grand in suspension upgrades I got a great offer on it and let it go. It almost high sided me a couple times so I was glad to get rid of 'er.

A friend of mine spotted a killer deal on my 2000 RSV and I made an offer that was accepted. I drove straight to San Francisco the other week at 3am and drove home that afternoon with an RSV in great condition with a good list of mods already on. It has a chip, matching titanium pipe and braided lines. Scuderia West in SF sold and serviced the bike so I have some piece of mine that it was taken care of. I LOVE THIS THING. It handles sooo much better than other bikes I have ridden. Now ripples and pavement/concrete transitions in the road aren't near as dangerous to me anymore. I can lift the front wheel without a problem, it's perfect.

I put a new chain and sprocket on it first thing and the Ohlins conversion should be on it within a couple weeks. All I need is some OZ rims. I'm not one to spend big $ on a bike and now that I've finally got an Aprilia I'm finding out why they are more money. These bikes handle so good from the factory it's amazing.

Having a competitive motocross background I like to rev the crap out of my bikes and tear it up on the street. I couldn't bring myself to flogging a new bike... this old 2000 model Mille is the perfect tool for smoking my friends and looking good while doing it!!

Mixing it up on the ol' Suzuki TLR1000 :nana

My friends really like listening to the exhaust roar when I whack the throttle. Last night they got a treat to some flames shooting out when I would hit the rev limiter. I need to adjust that shift light!

My bike stands will be here this week, new GP tires going on immediately, Ohlins is on the way, need some shorty roll levers, new rotors and pads very soon, new clutch, tinted windshield, tuck that license plate under, toss those blinkers.... what else do you guys recommend?

*gotta leave the rear foot rests on for the ladies though :devious

where in the central coast are you? i did some time in the SB area. GREAT ROADS out there :drool

-:banana

I'm always moving/working between Paso Robles and Arroyo Grande. I need to ride to SB bad! I better grab a Valentine for that Hwy 154! Dainese in LA is having an open house I hear...

Welcome Smitherz :thumbup, you have got the same year bike as me and exactly the same paintwork :thumbup. I had to look twice as i thought someone had exported my ride :scared... Nice bike and hope you enjoy and again welcome :thumbup
It will be interesting to see what mods you do as ill be waiting to see your progress , i too will be starting the modifications shortly and im wondering how much the ohlins conversion will be :thumbup

Hey SProcker I saw those rims but I have a hard time believing the are not bent with the whole front end of his bike being smashed to bits!! That's an insane price as I've seen great cond OZ's without a nick being sold for an even thousand US (which isn't all that much anymore har har). :happy

All in good time! RSVsteve- First of all I want your windscreen. I've grown quite used to our stealthy black paint work. I couldn't ride the blue jobber and but the yellow wouldn't be bad as people are less prone to run you over. The black gloss is pretty classy and the average person assumes the bike is brand new. If I have to explain to the person what kind of bike I'm riding it's much more fun to tell them about the fine Italian knife I'm riding instead of a Japanese twin that they stopped producing because they suck (my ol TLR1000). :slap_TLR

Hell, I'll be doing the FAQ for converting my bike to all Ohlins R status. I've done some nice FAQs for other forums before as I'm putting a Lexus V8 into my Toyota Tacoma at the moment. :thumbup Here is my longest one on replacing valve seals on the V8 without taking off the heads. http://lextreme.com/valve_seals.html The Ohlins+RSV FAQ will be MUCH more interesting I promise! :eatcorn

Hey thanks Pumpkin your new bike is "ok" I guess too.:biggrin I wonder if a cop would EVER give you a ticket. :tounge2 Coppers always let the ladies go.

Hey man at least you only got 8 valves to work on this time :thumbup, look forward to the mods and pictures.

Pumpkin would only get stopped for dazzling the cops with the huge grin she has riding the RSV :thumbup

OMG doing valve maintenance on a 32 valve motor drives you insane. It takes sooo long. Imagine when my engine builder did the drastic porting and polishing job! His eyes were black from lack of sleep when I picked the heads up. 5 angle valve seat cutter and a couple other tricks as well. Motorcycle engines are SO easy and fast to work on.
When the engine swap is done I will get pictures of my truck doing a burnout with my Aprilia in the back. =D
