Hey there everyone! Just bought a 2003 Tuono and loving it! I'm pretty new to biking, been riding a 125cc VanVan for 2 years but passed my test last week. I've spent 6 months trying to work out what to buy and stumbled on this beauty just in time - so glad I did.

I picked her up this morning and went out straight away to push some pace and test the handling (or rather see if I have the balls to match the bike LOL :devious) Seriously though - I like it a lot!

I'll be popping on here with lots of questions I expect, especially when I start playing with the bike, servicing etc.

Cheers

Hello mate and welcome to the forum.

She looks a nice bike too!

Things to check are the chain condition, make sure the suspension settles back to its starting position after first depress and doesn't take 2 or 3....mine did initially, it just wanted adjusting, nothing major and it made such a difference.

I'd recommend hooking her up to an optimate and hardly use any choke to start her, they can flood easily on full choke.

They handle great though, look the business :)

Looks like yours has got the Gen 2 mirrors on it, which look 10 X better than the big round ones of old.

Happy riding

Hey Ric, thanks for the advice.

Checked the rear shock and feels pretty smooth and full action. I might have a play with the adjustment but not until I've got a few more miles under my belt. I'm quite heavy at 17st ish and the roads around here are notoriously bumpy and twisty.

Chain is in good nick but needs a clean. It's got a Scottoiler which is something I haven't used before. I'm going to check the set up tomorrow, not sure if this is a good thing or not. I suppose as long as I don't get lazy and keep cleaning / checking every 600miles minimum it should be ok?

Sounds good to me mate.

I had an old chain on mine and didn't keep on top of its maintenance.....It snapped while riding and went through the back end of my bike.
Guess who checks his chain all the time now!....lesson learnt lol

I'm a heavy rider too, so like my suspension firm....I like the "ish" on the end of the 17 lol

Never had a scott oiler either.....let us all know what you think of it when you've done a few hundred miles with it :)

Can't wait to get my bike out for a play.....still too cold though lol

I took her to work yesterday and got some wicked looks.

I noticed the traffic seems to move out of my way now too! Must be the Blue Flame cans lol.

By the time I left at 8pm I had ice growing all over the bike... Errr, easy does it.

Your braver than me mate, I've commuted for 3 years before and it made me a confident rider, especially in the wet and slushy roads......but I don't miss the cold commutes in the morning.

Mind you,i doubt my Super corsa's grip like my old all year round tyres :)

Got a scottoiler on mine. Rate it quite highly. does make a mess on the wheel and doesn't really get thru to both sides of the chain, but certainly cuts down on the winter maintenance.

Thanks guys. I've had success with full 'choke' to start and then drop to 1.5-2k revs until warm (usually pull off easy at 35deg - don't want to annoy the neighbours). Scott oiler seem to be delivering, always got a light sheen of oil on the rollers and not sticky. Weird it doesn't deliver when I'm watching though - do they only deliver oil on the go?

A belated welcome nm, seems I missed your first post.

The Scott oiler delivers so slowly you should hardly see it. It's supposed to be one or two drips worth a minute

Just got this pic of my great uncle Archie taken by my Grandad touring Germany in 1936 - had to share it
