Hi My Name Is Sean And Live In Lancashire In The Sunny Uk.my Pride Ans Joy Is An 04 Plate Factory Mille, its Standard To Be Honest,as This Is This Big Twin I Have Had.my Last Bike Was A Zx6r 636 05,i Was Sick And Tired Of Red Lining Everywhere Nice Bike But Just Out Grownit I Think.i Am Open To Suggestions On Modding And Open To Any Kinda Help. Thanks

Welcome to the V twin fraternity mate, enjoy ya bike and the forum mate :thumbup:thumbup

Nice bike mate, in lovely colour!!! Probably the cheapest mod would be the olde sprocket change ( plenty of posts on here about this) lose a bit of the top end speed ( who really needs to do 179mph?) but get some brilliant low down acceleration/grunt. main mod tjhough would be to get some aftermarket cans & engine remapped to unleash a few more horses and of course the V-Twin growl....Again loads of posts on the forum. have a look and spend, spend, spend!!!
All the best, you've chosen well...I know the old red-line/tap dancing gear change/thrashing the engine to death issue as my last bike was an R6!!!

Welcome to the site fella, its all a BIG laugh on here. You will enjoy it,i've got an 04 factory & just had a set of acro's put on,sound so much better & alot smoother, take it easy fella.

when you say the sprockets, what are the standard tooth numbers front and back,i went one down on my zx6r 636,.and it felt like it wanted to change gear again when it was in top.will the mille do the same,as this is the first mille i have owned.sean

16/40 on your bike fella are standard, go down one on the front and see what that is like, i run 15/43 on the road

Hiya, i did my front sprocket a few months ago it did make a bit of a difference think i need a couple more teeth on the back....:biggrin

cheers fella.whats the low down grunt like then mate

With the other mods i have it has stretched my arms that much i am skinning my knuckles on the ground:biggrin

No shortage of grunt, if i was you i would do some checks first.

1 check your sprocket sizes that are fitted to the bike

2 check that the previous owner has had map 2 done because it sounds like your standard cans are cored

3 lift the tank and see if the airbox has been modified

4 check to see if the bike has a PC111 fitted

a wee job for ya :thumbup

not sure bout the sprockets ,whats the norm for those little rascals.no pc111,has map two cos they run better so the local dealer told me,how do you know if the air box is the norm or not?????,as for the cans been cored what the hell does that mean mate, all i know is thet are quite loud and it sound sgreat hehehehehe

Take the front sprocket cover off and count the teeth, and the rear.
Lift the tank and take a picture of the airbox and stick it up here and we will tell you.

Cored means the internals removed and basically refitted as a race can, i.e. straight through, probably 2.5":biggrin

The factory(no pun intended) cans have the catalytic converter in them, so they heat up immensely and are obviously limited to about 80decibels...if they're cored, this means someone has took the rivets out, dismantled the cans and ripped all the catalytic gubbins out, so basically they're straight thru race pipes...so if they're loud then clearly this is what has been done, which is why your dealer says it's on map 2. The sprockets will have the number of teeth stamped on them somewhere as badger says 16/40 is standard....so changing these (down at front, up at back) will increase drive & acceleration....though not to the point where you're looking for an extra gear, plus no speedo problems as the pick up is on rear hub not gearbox!!!
