Newb about to get first Aprilia

Hey guys I am in the works to get my first Aprilia, it will be a 2002 RSV Mille R
the bike only has about 97xx miles on it and looks to be pretty much perfect. :doug:deviouswhen I get it I will post some pics. Look forward to sharing info with this site.

Any tips that a new Aprilia Mille owner should know?

Welcome beemer :thumbup did that mean 97000 miles ?? Just make sure its got a full service history and get a decent warranty on it , say at least 3 months and give it a good run :thumbup

As long as your responsible give it loads of throttle and feel that pull that only a rsv twin can give, coming out of a nice tight corner, with the front wheel going light and the grin on your face hurting its so wide:devious just love it but respect it:thumbup

thanks guys the bike only has 9700 miles or so, meaning only about 2000 a year pretty good in my book.

Beemer there's nothing wrong with the brakes on these bikes, they are quality kit. Just ride safe and take your time getting use to the whole package, thats the key to enjoying the ride. Don't get sucked in to chasing other riders with more experience/ ability, it will only end in one way, expensive and painful.:thumbup. Have fun but be safe doing it.

There's a wealth of advise on this forum about getting the most out of your Mille from exhausts to airboxes to gearing changes to keeping the bike hooked up to an optimate. Just read the posts and njoy :thumbup

Welcome Beemer :thumbup one thing I would say to watch for, when you tension the chain check it again AFTER the axle nut is tightened. The chain tension increases when the axle is torqued up so you need more slack BEFORE the tightening than you think.

I found this when I tensioned mine. Had a pair of tyres fitted the other day and on checking the chain on getting home it was like a piano string! Thought mechanics would know better.
