Hi All,
Just wanted to say hello and hit you all with my question.
I'm a life long motorcyclist ( currently between bikes) and have always wanted to own a big Ducati but lately I've been thinking that it's more the big
V twin that I really want not necessary the Ducati name to go with it. So before I buy I'd like to ask
which is best and why, a gen 2 Tuono probably the R version or a Ducati Monster S4r
I now you guys will probably say the Tuono but I'm posting the same question on a Monster forum to try and get a balanced answer
Thanks alot
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
the only way you will get a balanced answer is to go to a neutral source mate. there are some guys on here that have owned Ducatis however I think you will be hard pushed to find a Monster owner who has moved from a Tuono unless that owner has had a lobotomy :lol

have a look at the attached mate but the only way to find out is get a test ride on both bikes, good luck :thumbup

Good links Brooksy.:thumbup
Yes test rides is the only true ansa. I've never riden the Duc, maintenance prices always put me off.

ive ridden both the S4R and the T.
The S4R was a big disapointment for me.If you are tall, like me,you may struggle to get comfy on it.The seat is low and the footrests high, which gives yer knees a hard time.Worst of all is the position of the exhaust.Because of its position on the bike,it forces your right foot out at an angle.I could'nt get on with it at all. They are set up weird as standard,...the forks very harsh and the rear shock all soft and squidgy.Yes they are Ohlins,so you should be able to dial that out.The engine is out of the 999S,so its pretty quick,...the downer is the expensive servicing. The service intervals are short too.
The T is very different to the S4R,its physically bigger and taller and has great road presence. The riding position is spot on for me.Very easy to work on yourself and no silly, expensive cambelts to change. The 'R' version T is not perfect,....sidestands are rubbish,....rear shock is a cheap, nasty p.o.s,but its all easily fixable.
For me,its a no brainer.

Funny enough olafT

My next door neighbour has a S4R and she is a lady :lol

Nice bike mind,if i was considering a duc it would have to be the 1098s streetfighter .
take a test ride on both and make up your own mind mate.

I have been swayed by others before when buying a bike never the best way to buy.
hope you enjoy whatever you end up buying :thumbup

Gav,
I was tempted by a Ducati Streetfighter, but too much bad press, the new smaller version seems to get a better write up.

I would rather have a Super Duke than a Monster.

Perhaps the new bigger Super Duke is the new daddy, if its not too extreme.

As you say, the only way is a test ride.

Olaf

I am kicking the idea of the new super duke around at the mo ,
Think they come to england at the end of the year.

My only fear is the license may be at even more risk of being removed from my possesion by the fuzzy wuzzys :yes
