new tyre rubbing

P

pointer rsv

just fitted new back tyre michelin pilot sport 190 and its rubing on chain gard put it all back together as it came off .can any tell me if there is a difference in the back wheel spacers:dunno chain semms to be running smooth.

I have a feeling the older mille was fitted with a 180 tyre rather than a 190, but dont quote me on it...:eatcorn

a 190 came of bridgstone so thinking it might be the michelin hand book says 180/190

My 190/50 Pilot Sport did the same, the chain just catching the very edge of the tyre. Some bikes do it, some don't. I believe the michelin tyre carcass is slightly wider than the 190 suggests, hence this issue. I ran mine for over 4000 miles with no probs though i've just replaced it with a 180/55 and all is fine

It will probably be something to do with the profile of the Michelin Pilot.

I've heard folk having issues fitting Dunlop Sportsmax 190's and getting a bit of rubbing.

I have had both Michelin Pilot Powers and also Mich 2CT's in 190 rear size on mine for the last few years and there are no rubbing issues with those.

I'm guessing the profile of the Pilots might be the cause.

Be aware that if it is rubbing at a standstill if you try and ride it it will rub even more because of centrifugal force and swelling of the rubber caused by temperature.

Is it rubbing anywhere else?. Some folk find that it can also catch the hugger in some cases.

Are you 100% sure you put everything back together as it is meant to be??!!!. :dunno

like i said the chain running smooth and not rubbing any were but chain gard but since undone top allen bolt and gard has come out some see how that goes but you could be right with the tyre swelling as well

If you get it leaned over enough in the bends it will wear down a bit, no more rubbing...:devious

Hmmmm not much help i know....:biggrin

I fitted pilot powers 190 and it is close to the guard, took a while to get the alignment right tho'. Measured with a ruler to set it up and didn't go off the tension markers. If your 1mm out, it makes a big difference to amount of gap you get ....

Just fittes a diablo 190 on mine last week and no problems. I have always been a 180 man and to be honest cant really notice the difference between them yet.

mine does the same !!!

if your trying to blame this on the fact that your slow, please stop now!!!
:nana:nana:nana
