Hi everybody

Bought myself a mint 03 tuono for a price that would be considered a steal,it has the red bronze colorscheme.19000km with 3 previous owners of which most km have been covered by a woman.Bikes has never seen the ground and only has a few scratches here and there. Its all stock except for a touring windshield and aprilia evo exhaust.

A friend of mine has the morini corsaro and he also praised the bike for its nimble handling, altough he noticed the lack of grunt compared to his corsaro.
Its my first street motorcycle, and i absolutely love it.I have ridden motocross bikes for almost a decade before this,so I do have riding experience and know how to maintain bikes.

Dont mean to be rude, but I have a few questions I hope you could help me with.

1.The dash voltage meter shows I have 11,4 volts.I removed the seat and measured 12,8V at the battery. It has a ctx12-bs battery. The bike starts immediately and the starter spins well,I didnt even know there was a cold start/ choke lever on the left handlebar.
So either the tuonos own voltage meter is faulty,or I have resistance in some wire/connector.Of which I believe the problem is the latter.
I have read about some problems with brown connectors, does this concern my 03?

2.Is there a service/owners manual online I could download.Im a soon to be engineer, money is always a little tight so I do my own maintenance.

3.Any known problems that concerns my bike that I could fix as preventive maintenance.I plan on checking valve clearances in the winter.
Ive read about the sprag clutch, and know the bike needs a healthy battery to spin the engine.I think I found the starter relay,it reads rc-18 12V made in japan.Dont know about the amps, but seems to be a replacement.
It also seems this bike suffers from fried stators,is there anything I can do to prevent this?

4.The expansion bottle seemed empty,so I overfilled it by mistake. The coolant seemed a bit old,So I would like to change it.I found the two drain plugs at the radiators.Since I dont have the manual maybe someone could point out where the water pump and its drainplug is.

5.Do forum users have any specific oil that works well for the clutch and tranny.Mine makes quite loud clunks when shifting gears.I plan on bleeding the clutch soon.

Any helpful hints to get me started with my italian lover is grately appreciated :)

Welcome mucker.
1. the bikes own volt meter ain't the most accurate so don't worry aboot it.
2. do a search on here and you'll find a manual. http://www.tuonozone.com/forums/showthread.php?3296-Tuono-Manual-Download
3. you could replace the starter relay as for the stator if it ain't broke don't fanny aboot wae it.
4. refer to 2.
5. i've got the gen2 and as far as the oil's concerned i stick with the recommend 15/50 semi, apparently the fully synthetic can cause clutch slip.

M, just do a bit of searching on here and you'll probably find what you need, if not post it up and i'm sure someone who knows will reply.

Enjoy yer T mucker, there'll be loads of stuff you'll find oot aboot them on here. :thumbup

Think all your questions have been answered.
Get out and ride the bike, and if its working/starting fine, stop worrying and enjoy it. I have an optimate for mine to keep the battery topped up. I also use 10/40 semi oil.

Sorry for my late reply, and thanks for the help.
The downloand links for the manual doesnt work, but I managed to find the rsv mille workshop manual and the usa owners manual. It shoud suffice for most jobs

Plan on doing a wash and wax on her on wednesday. Also going to bleed the clutch, change the coolant and front tire.Perhaps inspect brown connector.Oil is recently changed and clean.

Is there any benefit on using iridium plugs on the tuono, will likely do them in the winter when I check the valve clearances.

Welcome aboard mate, think all of your questions have been answered but as mentioned if you have a mooch arounnd or do a search you usually come upo with some sound advise. As you might expect there's often somebody there to take the piss as well.
