Lovely, quite similar to mine. I just love the way the blue sky reflects off the polished frame; I prefer it to the gold one on the Factory of the same year. Any reason why there are no wind deflectors next to the headlights?
Thanks and this forum is fantastic. If not for the crappy weather the day after I picked the bike up I hate to think the potential damage I could have unwittingly done…….. without reading about “unique” RSV behaviors as well as visiting this forum. Understanding proper start up process and the potential disastrous consequences if not followed was an eye opener. How to properly check oil level is another example.
Thanks! No, now that you mention it I had no idea wind deflectors were missing. I must have looked at a 100 or so 2007 RSV pictures and never noticed the wind deflectors. I’ll need to sort through the box and bags again. The owner included a tank bag and fitted tail bag……along with other parts.

@darkstarligh Out of interest, which model Ducatis have you owned and how does the Ape compare to them?

Funny that as I didn't notice it either :biggrin. Also just noticed that your indicators are orange and your tail light is red too. Is that a requirement over there ?.
My last Ducati was a beautiful and the last of the 749 Dark manufactured with 17 miles on her when purchased. Added a really cool OEM racing mono tail section and a few other odds and ends…… I hated the look of the original tail. I loved that bike! It was beautiful! I traded it in for a new Yamaha 1700 Roadster Midnight Silverado (long and totally stupid story). Please shoot me! I have regretted that decision ever since. I should have just tossed a tarp on it. I was looking for a 1098/1198 when I spotted the RSV. One test ride and that old wonderful, but painful, feeling came back. Move power, sits higher, wider seat than the Duc but still narrow. Sounds 100% better than the Duc. Handles amazing…….but still huts my back….;-) Crappy gas mileage……….oh well. Overall……much better than the 749 in almost every category….but I think perhaps an unfair comparison. In some ways the RSV is much closer to the 999 I had. The original RSV owner pretty much added what I would have added……so I’m very happy with the setup.
I reviewed many of the pictures on this site and assume the tail configuration is standard US dress…….as I’m sure everyone does I’m looking to make a few personal upgrades. I’m not that keen on the look of the wind deflectors. The original owner added a few nice additions…rear sets, properly configured rear disk brake reservoir, risers, levers, bubble, and exhaust. After reading the forum I added a battery tender dongle to keep the battery properly charged. I’ll upgrade the battery and capacitor. Not thrilled with the chain adjuster. I plan to do something with the seat. Hate the passenger pegs. I’ll replace with an aftermarket hanger. Overall just minor upgrades.

darkstar, you mention ' crappy fuel mileage ', ... are you running a wild sprocket set or just a ' heavy ' hand ? I think that more often than not we tend to rev the twins 2 k rpm more than needed ( for fun factor of course ) , but then ' whine and moan afterwards. Anyway I just needed an excuse to come back to the the thread and perve the bike.
As you can tell I’m learning new stuff everyday about my Aprilia. Generally speaking I rarely over rev the engine. Generally speaking it appears to be happy cruising between 4K-5K rpm (would be nice to hear other thoughts on this). However, I must admit I have mapped out what I call the “loop” which does have a couple rather excessive high speed sections as well as twisty sections and a coffee house so I can sit and just admire it……… I’m probably responsible for the surprisingly low MPH….. the “loop” was my day-two ride. Close to a full tank of gas and riding less than 100 miles and the fuel reminder light is on.
