New to Aprilia & new RSV Factory owner

I'm just about to take delivery of 2006 RSV Factory on Friday & while I'm VERY excited about it I was wondering if any of the problems/issues that I've read & heard about were fixed by the time this '06 model came out ??
Items such as the side stand that was too short ...... The poor rear brake etc or are these still an issue that I will need to look into ???

That makes me feel a lot better as I must admit I was apprehensive about getting one as I've got a 2007 R1 that I'm trading in for the Aprilia & while I realise the Aprilia may not be as reliable as the R1 ( or will it be !!!) I just couldn't resist the lure of the Factory any longer & am looking forward to having some useable torque rather than just a screaming top end !!!
Nice to know I won't be alone on here though too :thumbup:thumbup

LOVING the bike !!!......... Quality components & a fantastic ride !!!!! I can now understand why you have 4 of them !!

Cheers Foxbuster !!........ Took it out for its 'first proper' ride today & loved every second of it !!........ I fitted my trickle charger to it to keep the battery in good health ( has a decent Yuasa one fitted which was good) & I'll look into the side stand 'fix' too ....... My back brake seemed fine too & i definitely felt it working so fingers crossed all is good there too

Thanks for that mate , I'll keep an eye on the fuel cap seal too but got to say I'm LOVING the bike so far , much more involving than my old '57 reg R1

Only had the bike a few months but so far I love it !!...... I had an 07 R1 before the Factory & while it was a fantastic bike you had to rev it to get the best out of it BUT with the Factory there is just grunt from seemingly everywhere in the rev range which makes for a more enjoyable ride in my opinion !
The bike certainly gets attention as you don't see many of these compared to more mainstream bikes which is nice if you like being the centre of attention LOL !!!
The ride quality is fantastic thanks to the quality Ohlins suspension which gives much more feel than what I was used to on previous bikes as well as giving the bike a certain 'bling' factor if you like that kind of thing & the Brembo brakes are incredible , plenty of bite with good feel , I haven't yet experienced the apparent rear brake issue that can affect these bikes but there are various mods around to alleviate the issue as I can see why the heat from the engine would affect the performance , this does seem to be a design flaw with this model & depending on how much you use the rear brake will determine if this will be a problem for you or not !
I have had no issues with build quality & it seems to be as well built as my R1 was so all good on that front so far, in fact I've had no issues with the bike at all mechanical or otherwise !!
I spoke to a very knowledgeable dealer before I bought the bike & was told that he has never had any issues with the engines on these models & if anything did go wrong he would suspect that it was due to owner neglect & NOT an issue with the engine which I found very encouraging , I love the 'v-twin' grunt & performance & while it isn't as powerful as my R1 was in the real world it's much more useable & accesible
To sum up I'd say if the bike you are looking at is clean & tidy & has history then buy with confidence & enjoy riding & owning something a bit different from the 'normal' manufacturers , all you have to do now is pick which colour scheme you want ( mine is black & gold which I personally think is the best combo )
