Hi, Another Newbie.
And probably with all the same questions as the others.

I've recently bought a 2008 RSV1000R Factory. I normally ride a Ducati 999 and had a GSXR 750 track bike but just didn't get on with it so bought the RSV to convert to track. Trouble is, I'm enjoying it so much I'm not sure I want to restrict it to the track!! It pains me to say it, but I think I like it more than my lovely red 999.
It had no back brake. Have replaced the master sylinder and bled it profusely. What a rubbish design and layout!! Replaced all pads, chain and sprockets and that's about it so far.
New battery arrived yesterday so will be charged and fitted tomorrow to enjoy this early summer we're having.

Next I wanted to get a set of track tyres and wheels and here's where my confusion starts.
From reading previous threads, I understand the front wheel on later models with radial calipers is 2.5 mm wider that the older wheels? So does that mean I could fit older wheels with wider spacers?
There are lots on ebay but it's difficult to know what will fit.

Anyway, I look forward to reading and learning a lot and hopefiully can contribute something useful sometime. :thumbup

yep ... older front wheel will fit but you need a spacer under each brake disc .... smaller front sprocket is a good mod

There are threads on the ' rear - brake ' issue. I have done several km's with a factory ( had rear brake issue as well ) on fast twisty roads and I would recommend to drop 1 tooth on the front sprocket from standard. ( 16 to 15 ). It allows for best all round performance. Any further gearing in my view has more negatives than positives. There are few guys that use shorter gearing on short tracks and they'll probably tell that it is difficult to keep the front down.

....and do post some Pics of the new ride.....we are all pervs.

Hope I’m not violating any newbie rules (I’m a recent newbie and luv my 2007 RSC) Not sure if this post/photo helps or not but this rear brake configuration works very well….no issues (2007 RSV)

Previous owner did something similar to mine.
It;s the underslung caliper that I just don't understand. It'll never want to get bled properly. Took off the caliper and held it as high as it would go while bleeding. I'm trying to think of a way of bleeding it from the caliper backwards to the master cylinders so that it's pushing the air up.
Would post a photo but can't work out how to do it......will have to ask one of the kids!!
