Hi To All, Hoping Someone Out There Can Help Me I've Just Bought A 2003 Milie And Did A Service On It Straight Away Changed Clutch Fluid I've Now Done Over 800 Miles And Absolutly Love It Only Thing Is Clutch Fluid Has Darkend To A Blackish Colour Is This Normal?. Thanks For Taking Time To Read This And If Anyone Can Help It Would Be Appriciated

Hi matey, welcome onboard. Don't worry about the clutch fluid they all do it. I spoke to the mechanic who did the 1st service on my bike and he assured me it was nothing to worry about as all mille's do it, something to do with the seals.

Where abouts are you based?
Chris

i don't think the clutch fluid should be that dark, did you try bleeding it again and adding fresh fluid?

really? that just seems strange to me...my TLR had a hydro clutch, never turned that dark...maybe like an amber ale color, and that's when I knew it was time to put new fluid in :O

i guess its just a quirk of the bike. :thumbup

All RSV and RSVR's will darken their clutch fluid to a certain degree due to wear on the clutch slave seal. It's nothing to worry about

Mine darkens just at the point when I feel it softens enough so I have to bleed once again. I replaced the clutch pump but problem still remains (the clutch lever is too much depressed and shifting becomes hard) and only is fixed when bled.

Hi Sergi,

I've just purchased one of these off ebay,

waiting for it to arrive and shall be fitting it on my Y2k RSVR together with an STM Slipper clutch. When I get it all back on the road in the new year I'll let you know if its any good:thumbup

Sergi, your 2005 RSVR Factory has a radial clutch master cylinder unlike the older model pre 03 RSV's. The darkening of the clutch fluid has nothing to do with your loss of feel at the clutch lever. It is a problem with your master cylinder unable to self bleed itself i.e air is trapped within the master cylinder. This was a big problem on the newer model RSVR's a few years ago and Aprilia issued a warranty replacement revised master cylinder to try to cure the problem. Most were cured under warranty. I would suggest speaking to your Aprilia dealer if you feel it is a problem

Hah I was wondering why the fluid in mine was darker than normal. Not that it bugs me but now I know what the deal is. Good subject. Ride on.
