Hi to all -

Having just bought an 04 Factory just before xmas and only having a couple of half hour stints out, i can honestly say WHY have i been tw*ting around all these years trying to make a VFR 800 handle and stop???????

Anyway one small niggling detail is that why when you need a good battery in good condition to start the bike, why is it the headlights have to be on constantly????? Has anyone ever tried wiring up an on/off switch?

Great forum by the way.

Adzer.

It was euro law that headlights could not be switched off from around 04.

You can fit the switchgear from the earlier RSV if you want the switch to turn them off.

My Ducati has auto turn off of the lights during startup and after 2o secs of ignition on and not starting which is the way most bikes will now go i think.

:thumbup I really liked the look of the vtech vfr and was serious about getting a new one when i was doing 60 miles a day to work 6 days week.Had a test ride and the engine was a big let down ,felt like a 125 to my blackbird.
Now i dont use bike for work sold blackbird and got RSV1000R 2001 MODEL.Not as fast but so much more fun, really like it now.:biggrin

Welcome...the battery issue is a VERY frequent thread on here...basically you need a LOT of power to turn over the twin lump & any weakness in the battery will show up quickly and cause associated damage - see sprag clutch - hence the need for an optimate all year round...It's a small price to pay for such a cracking bike. Hope you enjoy!

welcome mate, reckon your biking life is about to get a whole lot more interesting!

There is a fix on the AF1 site posted by a bloke whose name I cant remember AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh., Which covers this problem in a real simple way. KZMille. Thats tha bloke.
