hi all,

ive just put a deposit on a spotless 2001 rsv1000 and cant wait until she arrives next week!!

I currently ride a Ducati 748, which is being collected on Sunday - i fancied a change and the rsv really caught my eye.

Can someone tell me, is there a difference between the 01 model and the 99/00 model? ive read that there was some kind fo revision but cant spot it!

Thanks

Tom

Welcome here mate!. You've been fallen at the right site.

As far as I know, in 2001 version power was a little bit more increased and weight lost as well as some changes to improve aerodynamics (with a maximum speed increased by almost 10 km/h). Frame was also slightly redesigned (affecting riding position)...

thanks for the welcome, and for the info. cant wait for her to arrive!!

oh, does the 2001 have a steering damper?

sorry, im new to aprilia's!

I would be surprised if it didn't have a dampener. Ur new ride looks flawless, nice. The 01 have a lower tank or something I read. People that reviewed it noted that the rider sits "in" the bike and less on top of it compared to the previous year. The side vents under the seat are a nice addition to the newer model as well. If you are worried about weight ditch that stock can asap. You will be shocked to feel how heavy that bastard is! What an upgrade from the 748. You are going to be soooo happy with your new toy.

Welcome Dolestar :thumbup, nice bike. Mine is an 00 mille and comes with a steering damper , the only difference i can see is you have different infills under the seat and different paint scheme, i thought the 01 came with ohlins but i must be wrong:confused.
Anyway enjoy the bike and the site :thumbup

Hello and welcome to the forum Dolestar I've got an identical bike to yours same year,It doesn't come with a steering damper I've just fitted one to mine yesterday(sunday) there is not much difference between 00-99 and the 01 most of the difference's are covered above,I find the 01 's riding position a little bit better, they do have an ohlins rear shock and nearly all the body work is different and as Smitherz says get rid of that dustbin of an exhaust, you wont need to replace or upgrade the chip or remap it if you put a race can on it, it's better left as standard but if you want to tinker and change them you can, you'll have a fantastic time when you get it ENJOY!!!!

Welcome Dolestar from one of the newest members on here! Like you I have, very, recently come from the 748. I thought the 748 was a fantastic bike to ride and couldn't imagine leaving Ducati until mine eat 8 of it's 16 rockers!

I took a demo RSVR out for a ride and totally fell in love with it. Much as I hate to agree with advertising blurb, the RSVR is just so balance. I don't know what the actual weights of the 2 are but the RSVR looks a much bigger bike but actually feels a lot lighter to take off the stand and ride.

The few times I've managed to get out so far have been awsome, really looking forward to some dry roads! Enjoy.

Thanks for all the welcomes :)

and Dave RSVS - another Ducati defector lol! - 8 eaten rockers must have been a very scary prospect. I had a major service on my duc back in June which included 2 rockers on top of the regular stuff and it cost £1400! ouch

@Sharkey - how much was the damper? and is it hard to fit or are the mounting points already present?

Thanks again for the warm welcome everyone

Tom

Hi and welcome to the site Dolestar :thumbup

I was looking to get either a 748 or an RSV but decided against the Ducati's for the above mentioned reason's, that would have spoilt it for me having to pay out that much on bike servicing. You get much more for your money with the Aprilias and I'm chuffed to bits with mine and glad I made the choice I did :love2

Your bike looks lovely mate :thumbup

well spotted! - the seller assures me he hasnt just cemented the bike back together lol

Welcome aboard mate, nice looking Mille:thumbup, BTW is that your old duke in the background:lol

Just think off all the money you will save on servicing, more money to spend on tyres and fuel:biggrin:biggrin:biggrin
