New Owner, Service Advice.

Hi guys, picked up my new RSV on Saturday :love and just had a quick question regarding servicing.

The guy I bought her off assured my that the 10,000 miles service had just been done but has no evidence and unfortunately the company that did it is no longer trading.

He seemed like an honest guy so im inclined to believe him but I made sure the price reflected this and just wanted to get idea of the cost if he has told me some porkies?

Thanks

Barry

Hi there and welcome....Just a few ideas...what colour is the oil (ie does it look fresh), what colour is the brake and clutch fluid in the handlebar reservoirs, if it's dark brown then it hasn't been changed recently and I would expect at a major service for the fluid to be changed, also are there any signs of fresh copper grease on brake calipers/what state are pads in - do they look new(ish) or getting worn out. the engines on these things are pretty bullet-proof but some of the above may give an indication of whether a service may be required (some peace-of-mind for you even if it costs) Generally though if the bike looks like it's been cared for with decent tyres, un-rusty chain, sprockets in good condition as the picture seems to indicate. The seller may be very genuine!!

Mate welcome aboard,:thumbup try all of the above from Newboots :eatcorn if in doubt do an oil and filter change anyway..:devious have fun and enjoy both the site and of course the bike:biggrin:biggrin

as per above if you need it servicing then a dealer will do it for around £4-450

Just to be on the safe side I would do an oil service at the very least. You will feel more at ease when you're screaming the teets of the bugger:thumbup
