Hi folks
just joined the forum and keen to learn from other Tuono owners about everything Tuono. I've had a few other bikes but been drawn back to the vtwin sound. I got my 2008 Tuono in July and done about 1500 miles already. Some machine. Big grin factor is back.

First of awe ...welcome Bob min....secondly ye will need tae get yersel hitched up wi some o the T ownin loons oan here for a wee run oot an aboot...there mair locally tae ye than ye wid think....watch oot fur anything entitled FudFest!

Tuonos hae one or two wee foibles but once ye get yer heid roond them thir nae a problem at all. First thing is ...its a bike that needs ridden..nae use sat oan an Optimate in yer garage daein bugger all. It,ll be awe the better fur bein used....IMHO the engine an gearbox improves wi a bit o milage oan it. Ahv 58 plate and jist comin up tae 20K an a def feel it runs smoother than when new, ( mind you ah huv fairly been buggerin aboot wi mine a bit!))

Learn tae check the oil level the right way, its easily bodged an overfilled or nae topped tae right level ata ll cos it looks Ok. Must be done hot an wi bike upright. Go oot fur 10 mins, stop an wait a minutey the hae a look then. Change the oil an filter regularly.

The clips oan the rad hoses are pretty ***** in that they cannae be tightened up once the hioses hae aged a bit and have been known to break. Its a common thing tae find coolant leaking frae the right hand rad hose. Swap these oot fur screw types clips like Jubilees. Theres a How to thread oan here.

Shouldn,t be a problem but take a deek at the condition o the brown electrical connector that lurks behind the coolant reservoir. This has been known tae over heat melt and corrode oan earlier Ts due to poorly crimped end terminals on the wires. Check the security o the wires and if fine clean her up an cover wi some petroleum jelly or electric type grease

A lot o folk reckon changing gearin tae 15/42 teeth smooths oot the stutter at aroond 3000-4000 revs. ( ahm one and it does)

The side stands are dubious as the "footprint betwen the wheels an stand base isnae broad enough really. So watch where ye park, camber slopes etc. Can be improved wi a Fireblade stand which bolts pretty much as a direct swap. Again theres bings oan here aboot it.

Fit some stone guards tae yer lamps as they hoorin expensive tae replace. Ye can get the guards oot there fur aboot 16 quid a set.

Theres also a vast array o mods an tweeks ye can tae tae sort the T oot tae yer personal tastes as weel. Hing aboot here long enough an ye will soon get the moddin bug!

So get ridin it and get scannin thru the forum...thirs a **** load o good info

"Hello ... this is the Bo B C"

Welcome matey.

The T is a like a young and wicked mistress.

Fun to ride

Nice to look at even when she's asleep

Thirsty

Rears up occasionally

Has a loud and distinctive voice

Certainly better fun than a wife

Thanks guys.....new to this but the advice is appreciated. First job gettin done is the coring of standard cans. I've read the thread on "How to" and going to get it done on days off wi a mate who's done a few before. Can't afford cans this side of Crimbo so that will be a purchase in the new year maybe. Will wait and see what decoring sounds like.

Welcome Bob, 1500 since July? that's not much. Are yer intae short runs and loads of them?

Where are yer in Lanarkshire am based in the Briggs, give us a shout mucker and who knows we might even get oot fir a run afore the snaw starts.

Cheers for the invite. Due to holiday and work on sunny days the ridin's been cut short but when we get out it's usually Moffat, Oban, and Tyndrum. Done over Carter Bar to Rothbury a couple o times and the A7 fae Carlisle on a run back fae Hartside Cafe was one of the best. But sadly weather is gettin a bit more **** but we can only pray for sun. Will stay in touch though, based down in Newmains.
