Just a big hi to you all, been busy working and servicing my new ride RSV1000R 2001 MODEL.
Sold my honda blackbird so i could get some cash for xmas and buy a cheaper bike, times are hard.I dont have a car was traveling 60 miles a day six days week,so the bird was the ideal tool. Now i have a local job i can push bike to work, not great money but better hours only 2 miles away and no weekends to work.
Got a great deal on matt black 2001 rsv1000r only 14000 miles, long mot and tax, paddock front rear stands, solo and twin subframe, opti 3, blueflame tri and standard, all for £2000.To be honest when i first took it for a spin i thought i had done the wrong thing.
Put the blueflame on changed oil,filter,re-oiled and cleaned k+n,put good plugs in and changed gearing for 16/44 then took it to fusebox (griff) to have co and syrnc done.starting to really like it now, roll on summer.
wouldnt mind air box mod and powercommander if can save enough up for summer, fusebox couldnt change the co .My bike is fitted with a none standard chip, griff opened the ecu box to see what chip it was,but its unmarked ,so no idea there.
Nice to hear that these bikes be good for 60k plus, bike tappets were done 3 years ago but its only covered 1200 miles in last 3 years,so dont no if i should worry about getting them checked again.

Welcome to the forum! Youll find it very usefull :)

Usualy there is a sticky just above this topic for newcomers, but oke, the mod will move the topic if its necesery.

Mille, in terms of engine reliability is a very strong bike, so youll have no problems here. There are some common problems that bothers her, but you sooner or later get to that.

For starters always keep the batery in good shape and the brakes and clutch without air and youll be fine :)

Yep

Always leave the bike on charge

Search Sprag clutch on the forum ( this is the main problem that new owners have)

They're cheeky little buggers at first....the RSV hides it's performance well, you can easily get fooled into thinking your cruising along at 60/70 and check speedo to find you're well into 3 figures, whilst the set-up encourages faster & faster cornering...But the sound/grunt is amazing, plus you appear to have a nice selection of goodies already with your purchase.....welcome to the 'Zone!

Welcome to the forum mate.

You'll find a lot of knowledgeable people on here, apparently their are a lot of piss takers too.

Have fun!!

Cheers to you all, just spent last 3 hours reading threads on here,a lot of good info on here.
Will post photo of her when i get time.:thumbup

Welcome to the forum...lot of bike there for £2000 :thumbup

Yep think i got a great deal, other half was sad when blackbird went.Been out for a spin 2 up and was shocked how well it handled it.
Bit confused tho, has the handbook says the r model is for passenger only no luggage, anyone no better.
Got some soft throw over luggage that use when go to mcn at skeggy, not sure if it will fit on new bike tho,so dont no what to do there,as can not fit tank bag too becauce tank is plastic.
Just a bit worried about load weights on bike being the r model.Chap i brought it from was 16 stone same as me,and its been set up for that with as stronger rear spring fitted.

The R model was/is a single seater, the rear subframe is differant from the non R and designed for a single seat only.

:eatcornIf i am right in saying, think from 2000 or maybe 2001 ,the R mode could be ordered in 2 seater.Mine is 2 seater but i have single subframe too.
I am sure there must be someone clued up on this site, that can shine some light on it.

Hello and welcome.

Sounds like you got an awesome deal on that bike.

Enjoy. (And keep that battery charged).
