hi guys, ive just become a proud owner of an 06 2nd gen tuono, bloody brilliant!!! rides like a 600 but with plenty of grunt. nimble and precise handling, brakes that'll stop you faster than an unlit skip! i did have a go on a mille which i really enjoyed but around town it gave me a neck ache, loved the power though! tuono is surprisingly comfortable, at the momen *** has the tiny original screen which i will be replacing and i'm looking for a set of cans to go on it, MiVV's with the baffles out sound horny!
never had a v twin before, ive got a bmw boxer and a spondon framed bandit, the tuono is my weapon of choice cos its so civilised!!

Welcome, good sir, wise choice of bike. Try to post a picture (or two), as we always like to admire other Tuonos.

hello and welcome , your weapon of choice is a wise one , pics would be good and a few of the spondon too .

thanks for the welcome, i don't yet have any pictures of my tuono so heres a picture of my spondon to be going on with:T:T

Okay, I'm just a dumb Yank, what's a Spondon? :dunno I see they engineer frames, so it that kind of a do it yourself bike? I do like it. :thumbup

spondon engineering is or should i say was, a bespoke frame maker based in the midlands in the uk. they hand make the frame , swingarm and tanks and can make just about any part for your bike, they did a lot of work on the nortons for the TT and people like bruce anstey as well as stuff for barry sheene in the 70.s.
you tell them what engine you were going to fit and they would make the framekit , all the other components (forks wheels etc are down to the individual builder)
sadly they went out of business last year which is a tragedy because they were one of a small band of bespoke engineering companys specialising in motorcycles
im told there involvement with the new norton factory at donnington was the cause of there demise!

nice very nice always liked spondon stuff very well engineered and superb welding ! . tidy looking job well finished .

steel prunes just noticed where you hail from Spondon by any chance ? had some work there years ago for a couple of weeks , never did find the spondon engineering workshops but nicked a spondon rd sign just for the hell of it .

just to clear the possible confusion Spondon is a suburb of the fine city of derby .and gave the name to some of the best creations in alloy frame manufacture .

not from spondon, which as you rightly point out is part of the city of derby, from derby itself, when i first moved to derby i was out cycling and i passed spondon engineering, at first i did'nt beleive it was the same place as it looked so run down! i always expected it to look like the mclaren factory or something but it was a 70's unassuming building with a taped up front window with the legend "spondon engineering" above it. it was really old school inside had a great feel and smell as i recall!!
the photo was taken some 6 or 7 years ago, its now under going a complete refit with an M.V agusta seat, new exhaust, 1200 bandit engine, zx 9 forks and front wheel and some amazing c,n,c yokes from gav at G.I.A engineering, he worked at spondon for 20 years and has been making his own frames which are even more beautifull than spondons originals!
the tuono is loads more fun to ride though perhaps not as pretty:)

don't really know to be honest, it;ll weigh more than than the 750 engine thats for sure as i've moved both the engines and the 1200 is heavier, its not really a super lightweight racing bike its more about the asthetics, the tuono would run rings round the spondon. it'll probably be considerably lighter than a standard bandit as its not encumbered with superflous crap! and the frame is uber light
