Hi peeps new poster here

Put a deposit down on a 2008 RSVR today, my first litre bike and my first twin!, my previous bikes include rs50, rs125, zx6r and cbr600rr ive also got a wr426supermoto as well, test ride a tuono the other day, loved the v twin power delivery and it went from there, glad i went for the faired option though.

Just a few questions about the RSVR really, the one ive put a deposit on is a 2008 with 360 miles, just wondered what the service intervals are?, whens the 1st service due and how much does it cost?

It comes with an Aprilia warranty, how long does this last?

and anything else i should look out for, its up for £5995 is this cheap for an RSVR? Ohlins, Brembos etc included.

Cheers

Nick

Hi Nick & Welcome aboard.

Depending on where you live but there are at least 2 very good dealers that I know of
Southern Cross in London & our very own Griff (Fusebox) up in Tamworth

Cheers for the quick reply!, im in East Anglia, Norwich way, i think the nearest dealers are Dave Berkshire in Norwich and Taz motorcycles in Peterborough,

What does the 1st service entail?, Oil change and a checkover?

Dont forget MaxMoto in Suffolk, one of the guy's at work has bought a couple of ape's from them and says they are okay.

Sorry dont have a new enough bike to know about 1st services but some of the other inmates will be along shortly (once nurse has given them their meds for the evening) and they will be able to tell you

Hiya matey and welcome to the forum. The first service is at 625 miles (might be worth asking the dealer to come up with a deal as you are purchaisng it so near). You should be running her in gently up until then, no more than half revs. In this service they should change oil and filter, coolant, and brake and clutch fluids and will inspect the bike. After that all of her lovely power is yours for the next 10000 miles or 12 months! :thumbup

Service due at 625 Miles, the bike has 360 at the moment and the bike is being delivered from manchester to great yarmouth, so cant really ask them to do the first service as its too early? and cant really ride it back when it gets to 625 miles?

Sounds good mate. Don't worry about service intervals - it ain't a Ducati you know!

Hi and welcome.
first service needs the valves checking too. I had quotes from £250 to £400 other than that normal service.
cheers

Nige is right. The first service includes valve clearances so you need to budget for at least £300. Other than that servicing is every 6,250 miles. The servicing on mine is certainly working out a lot cheaper than a Honda VFR I ran with 4,000 mile intervals.

The warranty on recent bikes is I believe for 2 years which can be exteneded for a further 2 years without cost if you register with Aprilia. It might be a good idea to speak to an Aprila dealer or Aprilia customer service about that.

Anyway...enjoy!

As the guys have said, firist service is at 625 miles, oil and filter and valve clearance check. This must be done. Service intervals from here are every 6000 miles alternating between minor service and major service with valve clearance check. Warranty is still 2 years from date of registration

I think you'll find you need to stick to the service intervals to keep that warranty valid.....:eatcorn

I have just purchased a new Tuono, I was quoted £180 for 1st service, though expect to pay between £250 and £300 as suggested previously, my quote was a deal from the shop I bought bike from, they need the bike for 24 hrs at least so they can check the valves from cold.
You can get an extra 2 years warranty from Aprilia via the dealers for an extra £130, worth every penny, though I believe you have to take this out within 1 year of registration though dont quote me, also the dealers are not very forthcoming with this info :jack so you need to ask. as I wasnt offered the extended warranty with mine, and when I did enquire :dunno it was as if I knew more than them though they did extend it eventually.
Hope this helps :thumbup
.

Rang 2 aprilia dealers today, Maxmoto and Dave Berkshire and was told aprilia have recently changed the servicing details and that valve clearances dont need doing with the first 600 mile service, i also found out that the first service has to be done by aprilia to keep the warranty and the place i am buying the bike from is a honda dealer, i also rang them and they told me that they would get the first service done at an aprilia dealer local to them and get the book stamped up for me so either way im happy :)
