Hi all!

Just joined the site and need a little advice. I currently have a ducati 999 but am looking to change to a tuono factory r that I have seen for sale. It is a 07 with 17k on the clock. It is up for sale for £5500. Is that a reasonable price?

I have ridden one before, but not the factory version. Is there anything I particularly need to know about them? What is the servicing intervals and what is the rough cost? On what mileage are they due a big service? Have there been any recall work that I should check has been carried out? I know some models had trouble with the clocks misting up. Did this affect this 07 model? Where is a recommended dealer for servicing in the Wiltshire/Gloucester area?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for your help!

Oh, and I don't expect the back brake to work!!lol!

What model is it,.....Factory or R?No such thing as a Factory R,.....its one or t'other.
£5500 seems a good price for a Factory,...they usually go for around £6k.
Get the 'big' service thing out of yer head,....thats a Ducati thing.Major service,(every 6k miles) on the T costs around £350,...while the interim is around £250.
Misting clocks? They all do that sir!You already know about the crap rear brake,...and then there is the dodgy sidestand. All easy fixable.
Cant remember if the T was ever recalled,:dunno and I have no idea for servicing in your area,....look at the 'Prilla dealer guide. Many folks use Aprilia Performance in Tamworth.Griff is THE man for owt Aprilia in the UK.
Hope that helps,....now toddle off to the introductions board ,before some of the others give you a hard time.:eek:yes

Thanks for the info Keith! Much appreciated! Been over to the intros board too now! Can't be upsetting people now can I?!! Lol!!

Thanks again!

I wonder if pappa'd' is referring to the R that is on the sides of the rear seat cowl. It is on my Factory version.
Doin the right thing too, no belts to change.

Silly question, but the bike I'm looking at is fitted with akrapovic cans? Were these standard for the factory? Should I be asking for the originals in the sale for mot time?

Thanks once again!

Simple answer is no, they are after market cans. Original ones were plain with brushed stainless effect. Unless you have a very friendly MOT tester, I would insist on having the originals too.

I got mine, a 58 plate a couple of months ago, and it came with Akrapovic's, they are e marked and should also come with "bungs" tho my local MOT tester seemed to think it was fine without the bungs

My factory came with akrapovic & standard cans ,get them both. Aprillia were giving the akrapovic free in 2008 as an incentive to buy.

MOT testers CAN NOT fail a bike on noisy exhausts, they can only give you an advisory notice that on the new MOT's is written on the MOT certificate

Aye, the e-marked Akras were an Aprilia promotional for a while. When I bought mine I had the option o haein them fitted ( which of course ah did then promptly whipped the baffles oot!).

Ref the exhaust CTD right. the exhaust system jist has tae be whole an in good sound condition. The noise level is not for them tae check. Thats an issue for plod tae debate

an also wiz sorted ontae map2 at the same time. Mines an R by the way

The local plod have been leaning on our best bike MOT tester to fail any bikes that have noisy cans on them

There's the obvious George White & if I recollect there's also a bit of a specialist down that way somewhere. I nearly bought a Gen 1 with loads of carbon bling that they'd supplied. somewhere near Reading I think. will have a look for you.
Couldn't find who I was looking for but there's a number listed on the Aprilia Web site.

May be woth contacting Evlin who's a member from Oxfordshire, She also has a Factory for sale with a nice set of Carbon Akkras for sale in really good nick about 7 1/2 K miles if the one in GW has already gone & it was the one you were looking at.

plod can lean on the tester all they like, there is no noise test on the zorsts, they can only put an advisory on your MOT end of
