New member looking to buy a T

Hey guys. New to this forum, been browsing a while but decided to sign up as I'm after some advice.

I've currently got a Falco. Absolutely love it, fantastic machine but I'm looking to buy a V4 APRC Tuono. I've been reading up on them and it seems some of the early ones had some issues. I've read reports of weak gearboxes and bottom end failures. Is there any truth to this or is it just a few isolated cases? I also read that the 2013 onwards bikes were updated to cure these problems. Again is this true? I'm not looking to buy until the new year as I don't want to buy one just for it to sit in the garage unused for 3 or 4 months. But I think nows the time to start researching so I know exactly what to look for and what to expect.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I've got a budget of around 8 grand although may stretch to 10 at an absolute push to get the perfect bike.

Thanks,
Karl.

Good intro and pic of a great looking bike. All the best in your quest for a V4. I've only experience of a V2 too. I'm sure a V4'er will flash past soon with some sage advice! :)

my first ape was a falco, loved it, added as much rsv parts as i could inc factory engine, did i mention i loved it, my GF cried when it left,

as for v2 vs v4, the v4 is an animal, not as much torque as v2, mine pushes 84 with 172 hp, you wont really miss it, the v4 has much more legs, get it wound up and its like being on the starship enterprise, did i mention the the sound, oh the sound, (makes exhaust sound with mouth)

**** all engine braking with race mapping,

QS is the nicest ive ridden

not as tall as the v2, much thinner, you wont feel like a falco pilot,

as for qwirks, youve done the homework!

if you can keep both? im sure your falco will have it purpose

insurance will be dear, my first year was £700, thats with 4yrs no claims, this year i made a massive saving, down to £254 with 5yrs

id say ride one!

Thanks.
I wanted to go and view one at QB motorcycles, I emailed them expressing my interest although left out the part that I will probably wait until the new year to buy and they replied saying I was welcome to view it but I couldn't test ride it as it wasn't a demonstrator. Well, I'd never buy a bike or car that I hadn't test driven first so that's currently at a bit of a stalemate.

I've also seen a nice 2013 bike privately for sale for just £7200 which I thought was a bargain and is currently tempting me. I'm going to try and hold out though as I think the deeper we get into winter and buyers become thinner on the ground I may have more negotiating power.

Ps I love my falco too. I'm not sure what to do with it. I love it so much and I've spent a fortune on it. It's fully tricked out with ohlins and the rest of the rsv-r parts. However I know it won't get much use if I buy a T. Every time I go into the garage I know I will find myself jumping on the T and the falco may become neglected, and it's just too good for that.
