Just wanting to say hi as i have just purchased a 2014 red caponord from a dealership & am looking forward to getting to learn a lot more about this bike. I live in brisbane australia.

Thanks capoken

G'day Capoken........

I had a 2014 red TP which I bought new in 2015 and later traded on a new 1290 SDGT........ sad to see the Capo go as I had set it up for serious long range travel, but after 40,000kms I made the mistake of accepting a test ride and that was that...;)

Anyway, the Caponord 1200 is a fantastic bike, comfortable, capable, 400km range tank, great ADD suspension and brakes. The other forum (AF1 2014-) had a lot of whingers (some genuine, some just liked to whine a lot) but I had a good experience with mine and still miss her today........ though the Brisbane dealership has changed from my home base at Tony Armstrong's to the other side of the city (Lutwyche rd)..... but that's all in my past now......:(

I'd have loved to have bought the Rally version, but it took way longer to get here at the time...... anyway, my TP was just as good.

Best wishes...... you might not see many on the road these days..... but when you do they still look fabulous!

You probably already know the Caponord 1200 is no longer in production due to inability to meet Euro4-5 reg's which is a pity as Aprilia had a great design....... maybe they were a little bit slow to supply parts and the early quality control was a bit 'Italian'....... but it's a shame they didn't keep on with it as I found it a better bike to ride than the Ducati MS1200.

Ps Overnight thoughtie.........:D........ have a look on the AF1 sponsored 2014-2018 forum........ it's messy, but it has heaps of advice/mods/members. ;)

Hi Capo Ken
well chosen I got a low km 2013 with tour pack. brillant bike I did come off from an old Tiger 955cc that was a bit long in the tooth and was getting a bit too unreliable charging the battery.

Never looked back since, range not as good so I am not sure that I would get the 350kms I did with the tiger (23 litre tank) so cut m range down to 300kms.

Have a set of Aprilia heated grips for sale though...........

cheers

Hey CapoKen... Welcome..

Is this the one from the dealership at Virginia...? I may have been speaking to you over FB on one of the bike pages...?

As BrisbaNord mentioned... pop over to the AF1 site, there's a heap of good info there too and as mentioned opinions too :) ... But certainly lots of good tried and trusted data and info on the Capo.. there's always a few "quirks".. most of them just need understanding...

BrisbaNord has some great knowledge and experience.... and for gawwwdd sake, if you ever remove the rod that runs between the LH & RH Frame through the engine... stick a screwdriver in before the spacer drops out and you'll be cursing for hours getting back in (makes a Rubics cube look easy).. (( Thanks again BrisbaNord for helping me solve that one ))

Anyway, welcome to owning one of the most versatile and best value for money bikes on the market

Cheers
Phill

:D Great coffee at Tony Armstrong's in Springwood - and they have all the tools and training to work on Caponords...... if you are a southsider :D
