New Member - Aprilia RSV 1000R Factory 2004

Hi All,

I just paid for this 2nd hand bike last Saturday and will be getting it on Jan 8, 14. Is there any recommendations on what to check before riding it back home? FYI, the bike shop provided me with 4 months warranty.

I done the following preliminairy checks when I first tested the bike:

1. Exhaust fumes and color (to see if there is any piston ring wear and tear or combustion issue)
2. Forks and shocks
3. Radiator coolent levels
4. Lamps and signals

After I've read thru the Aprilia Owners manual and have listed the following items to check when picking up the bike later:

1. EFI & Warning light
2. Oil pressure & Warning light
3..... Do let me know if you have other recommendations for checks.

Question:

1. I was told that this bike is fitted with Immobilizer, how many keys should I get from the seller? (on the test date, I only saw 1 black original aprilia key) and if I want to make a spare do you know the procedure?

2. I understand that there is a diagnostic mode that we can use to check the bike, appreciate if you guys can show me how and what to check.

Check the rear linkage too, give it a refresh if it's not been serviced properly

Check the brown connectors - loads of posts on here about it - my 2004 gen 2 had them and they had all but distintegrated/melted/burnt and it only had a few miles on it at the time.

just checked mine, they have burned before and had been replaced with thicker wires... thanks for the advise
