hi all, well after 5 years on a track /road r1 i decided i needed a change and at the tender age of 45 i decided a sensible upright naked bike was the way forward ,but which one ?well i looked and looked and nothing japanese excited me . then one day out with the wife we came across an aprilia ducati dealer ,10 mins later i had bought an 08 tuono 800miles on clock and with 2grands worth of accesories all for £6000.The fact that i had not even rode one or any v twin didn't put me off ,it just looked and felt right .first week i loved it but then started to doubt it !just didn't have the excitment of my r1.now over the next month or so something changed my mind not sure what maybe the trip to belgium or the two up 2500mile trip to switzerland or maybe the trackday at my local track but i now love it .But i do wish i had bought the factory because the suspension needs upgrading .so on order is ohlins shock ,revalve forks and also power comander + dyno time .my local tuner says you can improve drive mid range alot wiv dyno time but not get much more top end .he says the standard map 2 isn,t to good although to me it feels fine . will post results soon .oh yea the rear brake is basically *****! :thumbup

hi and welcome..
i had gixxer 750 before i bought this tuono ,
i actually think the tuono is miles better is most departments :thumbup

Hi,i think the lower revs of a v twin is decieving always catching me out as you dont realise how fast you are going . the tuono was superb two up in the swiss alps .

Greetings mate and welcome to the nut house.
I've had a load of IL 4's including a blade and love the T.
As for suspension, it is much softer than any sports bike I've riden, but it handles lovely and gives confidence. A few on here have dopped the front susp to help it turn in quicker.
Enjoy the bike, the forum and its inmates

G'day and welcome to the Zone Ida.

A sweet handler she is. A few tweaks on the suspenders will help you out, as well as dropping the triple-trees down the forks a tad.

I feel your angst about the Factory though. As much as I love my R model, if I did it again, it would be a Factory, and in that spiffy new colour scheme (like Nobi's - just don't tell him I said so).

As there are a lot of post forty fat fuckers here, suspension is an issue with all of us. Dialled mine up and am dropping the forks this winter. As the right fork leg is weeping now, I might as well upgrade the front springs. Make for an improvement at the track next summer methinks. Enjoy and pay attention for tips and hints... There are a lot ofr knowledgeable people here and I have been shameless in taking advantage of their expertise.
