Hi from Australia.

I currently have a GSXR1000 K4 with a lot of fruit on it. it's an awesome scary fast bike. But i race an inline four and feel there is a little soul lacking in the GSXR for a road bike. It is not a commuter. I live in the country.

I have always wanted an Aprilia V-twin. I also believe they will be a good investment in the future and are undervalued - I intend to keep it.

So tomorrow i go to look at an 05 RSV1000R with 38,000 km's on it; Black; basically stock except for a set of cans and in VGC - straight swap for the GSXR.

What should I be looking at/listening for? Even if i can be pointed in the right direction to a couple threads that would be appreciated as i am busy today and don't have much time to troll through the entire forum.

I doubt it has a service history. I have heard it run via vid. Started fine Ran well. Photos look good.

Thanks, Mark. :thumbup

Hi Mark,

The V twin is a weird beast coming off of inline 4's myself. A few upgrades electronically and you'll awaken it enough to satisfy. I have an 08 but I think you need to see if the 05's had the problem with a stress crack in the swingarm. Also see if the clutch master cylinder just above the left foot peg has oil spooge stains under it. This is a simple fix as it just needs a seal replaced but it can leave you unable to come to a complete stop during a ride, it happened to me. When you start the bike you can push one of the buttons next to the Speedo and scroll through to get to the voltage and you want to see it close to or slightly above 14 volts once you warm it up rev it to 4k and keep it there, turn on the brights and flashers to use power and make sure it's holding voltage. Other than that just the obvious checks like wheel bearings, oil film on fork tubes.

Good luck,
Jason
