Aloha all! New guy (to the forums and Aprilia) saying hello.
Have been a sport rider for a long time, and have dreamed of owning a Tuono since they started bringing them to the States.
As of three weeks ago, I sold off the SV650 and bought an 07 Tuono R.
I picked up a demo model (had 3500 miles, but came with new warranty, etc). The bike rides great, but since the purchase, Ive been a bit disappointed.
It started with the rear brake. It just stopped working all together.
Then, I had a small coolant leak coming from the silver tube on the right side of the bike where the silver tube is connected to the radiator with a small rubber piece.
So, I take it to a dealer (not where I purchased it) an hour and 1/2 away and they tell me no problem...we'll getcha taken care of. I assumed the rear brake would simply be bled, they'd fix the coolant leak and Id be on my way. Two days later I get a call from the service dept saying that my parts have been ordered and "we'll call ya when its ready."
Anxiously awaiting the call telling me that its ready. Just never expected problems right off the bat.
I am pleased with the bike overall, just dealing with these little problems is frustrating. I do want to swap the front sprocket and eventually the exhaust, but right now, Im good with the way she sits. And cant wait to get her to a track day!

Welcome to the site, persevere with the problems, rear brake is always an issue, there are a couple of mods you can do to improve, best one id to rehouse the master cylinder to your rearsets, clutch can be a bit of a bitch too, other than that I took a similar step from SV to TL1000, never looked back.

Havent heard of any clutch issues, but I'll keep an eye out. Heard from the dealer doing the service today that all the dealerships are requesting parts and that he "hopes" to have it done by the weekend. Why am I doubting it? LOL

Welcome:clap

Oh, and I find life is much better when I fix my stuff myself:deal

welcome to the site, i've also just got a t and i hope u enjoy it as much as i do.it's a bit of a change from the 650!!
i had the same rear brake problem as in no rear brake it turned out to be the pads stuck on the pins

Aprilia has maybe one of the worst supply chains in the industry...but at least when it is working its a blast, right?

-:banana

I only got to ride it a week and a half before taking it to the service dept. They've had it almost 3 weeks....longer than I did.

La mia bellezza italiana è la patria
Supposedly Italian for "ny Italian beauty is home!"
Got the call from the dealership yesterday...ran and picked her up today.
Everything seems to be in order. Service dept replaced pretty much the whole rear brake system.
Svc mgr says that the problem may arise again, even though everything has been replaced. Wasnt happy to hear that, but glad to have her back and ride again.

Ah yes the rear brake.... its Ornamental...... just fer show mostley... after Jap bikes it takes a while to learn to live with out it...
As for getting parts from Aprilia i usually have no problem, the parts girl at my dealership is well fit and not immune to my charms and the occasional box of chocolates.

Speaking of parts girl....I need to run to my local cycle shop and do some heavy duty flirting. Im enamored with my local parts girl, although she's half my age LOL

Well done of the new pet!
What rear brake i never new i had one..... sold my blackbird and thought T's only had front brakes...
All Italian bikes have probs but when sorted its sooo much sweeter than jap bikes...
Good luck and you will always had probs with parts...... welcome an ride on

It's abloodymazing how many people buy Italian thoroughbreds and expect sushi.

Of course there'll be issues. Who cares??? When you are riding an Ape, you know you're riding something special, something with soul. If expect anything else, then buy a Japanese sewing machine. It may never give you any heartaches, because it has no heart. It will be just another bike.

To Mogster: I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I wish I had your gift with the ladies :cool3

Also who wants a bike with no probs at all?
Then you have nothing to fiddle around with, while waiting on parts modify something else on her and clean her up ready to thrash again. They love a good thrashing just like a women....... or a bad one which ever you prefer.
