Hi mate. Dont know if this will help but i made mine start slipping yesterday. I have been having trouble changing down and after reading a few posts decided to adjust the pin that the clutch lever pushes into the master. The clutch felt fine and the bike rode ok till i gave it a bit from the lights. Fortunately i'd taken the screw driver and tiny allen key with me so just backed the screw back off a turn. Been fine since. I now have a couple off mill travel on the lever before i feel resistance. Hope this helps

Did you fit a new genuine lever, there have been a lot of problems with pattern one's, & if I remember right they makee the clutch slip

Check that the diapghram in the clutch resovoir hasnt turned itseld inside out. and have you replaced the 6 clutch springs?

One more thing, have you changed the oil recently to fully synthetic? I've heard that can cause grief???

I used agip 10/50 semi, also i have an aftermaket lever but used the original pin.i will try and adjust the pin..but the sound from the slave dont seem right, ive got mpl slave on order.so hopefully all should be good, thanks for the replys:thumbup

yes ive replaced all 6 springs...i have read where some have used 3 barnet.3 original..might have to try that if all else fails

Ive got an aftermarket lever and had no problems although you need to make sure that connecting rod is not forcing against the M/C piston............10mm of free movement is fine.

Hey Wardy,

I think I saw you the other day, has your bike got a Xerox paint job ?? Looks good if so.

This is probably not relevent but......... I'm sure I read something about this on another forum ( poss AF1 think it was an American one) apparently Barnett had got the clutch kits wrong for the Mille and were sending out thinner plates as replacements? :dunno

Can't remember the details but they ( Barnett) did go thru' a pack thickness checking routine.

May be worth a look over on the 'other' place ? Didn't pay to much attention at the time as I have the standard clutch and was just browsing anyway.

Good luck.

Funny isn't it? .. sometimes as soon as you hit the 'submit' button you think T***er !!

If the clutch is slipping, Obviously the plates are not too THICK are they ? :jack

Sorry ,engaged finger before brain ( not for the first time I'm told)

There was definitely some issue about wrong type/thickness W.H.Y. Barnett clutches 'cos they posted the response from Barnett themselves apologising for the mistake and asking for customers (American) to get in touch so they could be issued with the correct parts.

Soz Wardy, the guy that was riddin the Xerox rep had "WARDY" on the back of his leathers. I'm based in Carlton/Gedling, not to far. Mines satin black and so's my mates, we could get a right sado's club goin couldn't we lol.

The Barnett clutch issue was too bigger stack height comapred to oem so they reduced the final plate thickness to get it back into spec.
If the stack height is too great the clutch drags, not slips because there is insufficient clearance between the plates when pulled apart.

If you clutch slips after new plates there are a few possibilities.

Springs out of spec.
wrong plates or something wrong with fitting.
clutch adjustment holding clutch slightly on.
Pushrod galling and not returning properly.

Or something i've missed out with the basket or similar.

i would have another look at the installation if i were you and measure the stack height and spring length etc.
