Hey guys,

I've just won a Leo Vince titanium can on ebay, for (i think) a rather reasonable £77. Its going to replace my blue flame evo, as I'm not overly keen on it. Heres the link:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290318020481&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:GB:1123

So, it come with a chip, emailed the seller asking what marking it has on it, and he said it just says aprilia. I'm not overly keen on wacking it in without knowing much about it. Should I try it out, what signs should I be looking for it its a bad map? Damage possibilities?

Thanks in advance,

Anthony

there are a lot of crap, cheap chips about, use a recommended source like Dr Rossi on here & he'll programme achip to suit your mods & bike,& he is supprisingly good value to

I'll post some pics on it when I get it to see if anyone can identify it. Thing is I dont want to go and buy another one if this one is okay. I'm thinking about taking the bike down to the rolling road and getting a power run done with both chips. Would the dyno show up any fuelling/damage potential issues on the chip?

Thanks,

Anton

keep the standard chip in for the time being. As long as the wire snip derestriction has been carried out, the standard chip is still amongst the best.

if you plug a new chip in you can damage the ECU. i spoke to a bloke at my local garage and he said hes seen it 4 times, and every time it was a new ECU, at an astronomical cost.

£1500!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?! :O

i would go with a power commander, because its not part of the ECU you are changing, it wont damage it!

Ok cool. However, cant afford a power commander, how much to they go for anyway, is it a PC2 i'd need? Can you run 2 maps on them?

And, is there anyone on here in UK who can read eproms so they can check it?

Ta,

Anton

depends mate. if you cant afford a PC3, like i cant, then you want to go on ebay and look for a PC3 second hand or a PC2 second hand. the only difference is that the PC2 is serial whereas the PC3 is USB. this might mean the garage will charge you an extra tenner to set up, it takes them a little longer.

erm if i remember correctly you can have several maps on them. with the PC3 you can also plug it into your laptop, you email PC and tell them you want a mapping for whatever exhaust - filter system you have and they'll email you a downloadable mapping!

not sure about testing pre-existing eproms, if you take it to a dyno they can set the original eprom up for you for about £120 (varies) and that'll do the fuelling but i think it could still damage the ECU.

TBH a PC has to be set up on a dyno as well to get the best from your bike, so i think it might be worth just getting the fuelling set up on the original chip at the dyno. you dont pay more than you need to and it wont damage your ECU dude.
