Ok guys get ready for it

I need to service the mille:jack

Being a total :jack at mechanics i need to know the following things please :eatcorn

1 Any tips on the oil change?
2 air filters are expensive any good ideas or is it worth getting a K and N?
3 If the bike has been running on synthetic should I keep running it on synthetic? Although its the first oil change since I have been the nex owner so not too sure what the little prick used before lol
4 Are iridium spark plugs any better to use?

And anything else that you can think of to do whilst im attempting this :pirate
 
Think the plugs last ages, but if you have no service hist, then do them. Iridiums last a long time too.
A K&N should be washable / cleanable, so will last a long time too and pay for itself over a few services.
Not done any servicing on mine yet, but I have heard that you have to make sure you drain the sump and the oil tank, not just one. There are 2 drain plugs.
Oilwise, go for one of the recommended oils - one of the resident experts will advise, but I think Agip or IP - if you can find them, are Aprilia recommended. I don't have a dealer within 40 miles personally, but France is only 25 miles away! :pirate

Funny how everyone says the rear brake is ****, but i've still locked mine up twice in 2 weeks needing to stop quick! :doug
 
Have a read here for oil change it's for a Falco but is exactly the same for Mille, it's very straight forward to do just follow the instructions. Use 15w50 semi synthetic motorcycle oil such as Silkolene Comp 4. Use a genuine oil filter though.

Spark plugs are easy if you know how. You will need to lift the tank and remove the airbox. You will need a good socket set with universal joint extensions. Iridium plugs are the best but the standard ones will be fine.

Airfilters are about £12.00 from Aprilia if i remember right.

Original Brembo rear pads are £15.95 plus vat from RSVR.net

do it all yourslef, the manual is on this great website....big pretty pictures and easy to use, i did all my own work and all i got is a high school education.

also, order it from AF1, your pound will go alot further, though may take a little while to get to you, but hell whats a few a more days. K&N- air filter, mine screamed after putting it in......plugs???? they all work teh same to me when i twist my wrist on the throttle. Brake pads?? whatever is within your budget, but again if you order from AF1 your pound will get you the better pads and plugs!

silkolene comp4 is a very popular choice for milles, stick with oe brembo pads, Iridium sparks will hardly make any noticeable difference and cost a bomb. and should be changed every other service. Balancing the TB;s evry second service helps, as does topping up fluids etc. Dont get a Kand N get an evo or renegade open airbox, great mod for the cost.
