Need quiter exhaust!

I know it's blasphemy, but my Mille really is stupidly noisy. On rideouts anyone behind me complains that they can hear nothing but my bike, and my neighbours aren't too happy with the noise and it's had quite a few comments at work (since the bike parking area is close to the windows of a meeting room). I have the proper Aprilia Racing 2-2 Akropovic system and I recently stripped down the cans and replaced the wadding, and fitted the little "baffles" which has improved it a little but it's still way louder than I would like, especially as I want to try a trackday at some point this year.

I definitely don't want to fit those crappy "DB killers" which are effectively a cork in the end of the exhaust. Are there any after-market cans that would fit the Akropovic downpipes which would be any quieter?

Why would I want a gutless little 4 pot Yamaha? And why do you have a dumper on the back of your bike, is it poo? :D

buy a YZF-R6..
complaining about akrapovic 2-2 system is so gay...
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha and so last year,

but any decent can with the right inlet will fit but wont be much quieter unless you buy road legal versions with the dreaded baffles

lol sod everyone else and buy some earplugs...

Yup, bollocks to everyone. Mine is the same - Akra's were made to wake the dead so just enjoy!

Dude i wull swop u a mountain bike for em still riding and much quieter lol loud saves my life is my opinion

Noise is good, noise means you get seen. I have to wheel Frankie down to the roundabout near home when I want to ride in on my early shift and that's with a 105 db noise level !

If you have biker mates who complain about the noise then they need to hang up their lids and take up fishing or gardening or stamp collecting or some ****.. As for the neighbours, ask them to buy you a Mugen-Shinden machine if they don't like it. But for track days, you're gonna need a completely different pipe set up cos you'll never get on with those!

but what about trackdays? You lot advocating noise not do trackdays on your 'made for the track' milles then? the noise limits are ridiculous now. I only just managed to scrape through my first attempt because it was raining and they turned the trackside mics off!! They even let a full bore race sv on the track on a 102db evening session!

Loud pipes save lives!!!.

But seriously, have you got the standard can or cans ( you don't mention if its a Gen 1 or Gen 2 bike ) that you can fit?. You won't get much quieter than the OEM system so that would be your only option really.

Have the same problem (start work at 03:30) took mine to a recent trackday at Castle Coombe, with the baffles in my (apparently) road legal Scorpion can it measured 114 Db - needless to say I didn't get on track :(

I did think about removing the baffle and having another go with the noise tester just to see what it'd do with them out :)

What would be useful would be a page with can make and model with db reading. Maybe something that Griff could do at the open day or at least someone with a calibrated noise meter ?.

My SP was loud and my R1 obscene but the RSV has a grating sort of sound that is made up of open airbox and short can.
